Default 2014 NBA Playoffs: (4) Houston vs. (5) Portland

Portland when they're on is probably the best offensive team in the league, but at their best they're also mediocre defensively. Houston has the muscle to slow them down and the firepower to strike back at them.

I expect the blazers to put up a fight, but they've been running out of gas since January and the rockets have been slowly gaining steam.

    Prediction: in 6

Key matchup: Wes Matthews vs. James Harden. One of the NBA's premier 3-D guys against the top overall SG in the game. Any chance of Portland winning the series hinges on Matthews's ability to contain Harden.

Should be a fun high scoring series. not really my type of basketball. Will be rooting for the Blazers.

I'll pick an upset here - Blazers in 6. even though the Rockets should probably win

    Houston in 6.

Portland hasn't won a playoff series since the 2000 semis. Pretty long drought.

Hmm, I'm rooting for Portland too. Surprised how many of us like the underdog.

But yeah, I think the Rockets clearly are more talented.

If we think the Pacers have taken a dive, how'd you like to start like Portland and end with the #5 seed?

I just don't feel like seeing Patrick Beverly cripple anyone important again (looking at you Lillard) and ruin things for everyone else.

I would love to see Portland make this a series, but my gut says Houston in 5 or 6.

I think POR has a CHANCE. LA is going to be a fit for Terrance Jones, and Harden needs to redeem himself after shooting 39% from the field last year in the playoffs (though he did avg 26 ppg)

I actually think Batum and Matthews will take turns guarding Harden.

Obvious Key to this series: Damian Lillard being able to consistently and efficiently score on Patrick Beverly.

I reluctantly take Houston in 6

I think Beverley is done with a torn meniscus.

I think the series will come down to how well Portland can create and hit outside shots.

We were number 1 in the league with them number 2, two games behind us, we finished 4th in the league with them 2 games behind us, their slide is almost exactly the same as ours. The problem for them is they live by the jump shot so in the playoffs they will die by it. I would love to see them win but I can imagine they will.

If any West series ends in a sweep, it will be this one.

I think this is going to be a lot more competitive than people think. Portland has played some really good basketball lately and with Aldridge healthy again, they're going to give Houston a heck of a series.

Competitive series, but Houston ends up with a win in game 6 to clinch... I like Portland, especially Lillard and LMA but I dont see them winning this series, but I would be pleasantly suprised if they were able to pull it off...

Houston in 7. Terry Stotts will outduel Mchale in coaching, but Harden won't let them lose a game 7. No one can guard LMA in Houston, as no one can guard Harden in Portland, this will come up to who wins between Lillard and Dwight.

I think game one will be important. If the refs call it like they did the last game the Rockets played against the Spurs then it might get Houston off balance enough for Portland to steal one. I think Houston will pull it out though.
