Default Colts add a DE and OT

No word yet on who they released.

Guy, 6-4, 318 pounds, rejoins the Colts after being waived by the team following the preseason finale against Cincinnati. He spent the 2012 season with Indianapolis after being signed from the Green Bay practice squad on September 3, 2012. Guy totaled 21 tackles (15 solo) and 1.0 sack in nine games played. He was originally selected by the Packers in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL Draft, but spent his rookie season on the Injured Reserve list.

Nixon, 6-6, 314 pounds, was originally signed by Washington as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2013. He was waived by the Redskins on August 31, 2013 before being signed to the teamís practice squad the following day. Nixon appeared in 46 games (33 starts) on the University of Florida offensive line. As a senior in 2012, he earned All-SEC honors after playing 11 games with eight consecutive starts at left tackle. In 2009, Nixon was part of a Florida offense that ranked No. 3 in the nation in yards per carry (5.59), yards per play (6.97) and total yards (6,410), earning him freshman All-America recognition from CollegeFootballNews.com and a selection to the SEC All-Freshman Team.

It seems like our personnel department never stops. Love it. You didn't seem to see near as many of these additions in years past.
There are two types of quarterbacks in the league: Those whom over time, the league figures out ... and those who figure out the league.

Yeah, during the Polian years, things like free agency and trades were treated as if they were some rare disease.

Guy was on the Colts just last year I believe.

I think Jean-Francois is questionable for next weekend so maybe that's why they got Guy
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

I think some of you guys get carried away in your disdain for Polian, every team and GM makes these types of moves weekly to shore up injuries...

Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

Waive Da'Rick Rogers and Kerwynn Williams.

Colts Waive WR-Da’Rick Rogers and RB-Kerwynn Williams
Posted by coltsindianapolis on September 24, 2013 – 2:34 pm

The Indianapolis Colts today waived wide receiver Da’Rick Rogers and running back Kerwynn Williams from the active roster.

Rogers was originally signed to the Colts practice squad on September 2, 2013 and was elevated to the active roster on September 19. In three collegiate seasons, he posted 139 receptions for 2,100 yards and 21 touchdowns in 36 games played. Rogers played two seasons at the University of Tennessee (2010-11) before transferring to Tennessee Tech for one year (2012).

Williams was selected by the Colts in the seventh round (230th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. At Utah State, he finished seventh in school history with 2,515 rushing yards on 382 carries. He also totaled 22 rushing touchdowns and five receiving touchdowns. Williams’ 6.6 yards per carry average ranks fifth in school annals and his 22 rushing touchdowns ranks seventh all-time.

As someone who has a ton of disdain for Polian I do agree with this BUT lets face it this GM is way more open to getting better by looking on the outside addressing needs etc.

Polian was beyond stubborn and arrogant in that regard the problems still existed and he did nothing to fix them and it cost him his job and rightfully so.

Exactly Polian was always cutting and signing end of the bench guys during the season as injuries happen. This is not anything special and says more about injuries than a GM looking to make changes to improve.

The first couple seasons Polian was here he was a lot more active in signing FAs and making trades. Once he got more of his players and we started to win that changed. I expect once we get to the point where we have a bunch of Grigson guys we will see less FA and trade activity. Actually Polian was well aware of the problems and tried to fix them, but he failed at fixing them. He wasn't stubborn that there weren't problems, he was just failing to fix the problems. He may have been a jerk, but he wasn't stupid and blind.

Like Eleazar hinted, let's wait until Grigson is in a comparable situation to what Polian had which was trying to build an elite team around a max salary QB...
