I imagine that Richardson will be pretty happy once the initial shock of the trade fades away. He is going to a superior franchise and will be playing with a real QB.
He looked pretty happy in his pic next to the horseshoe at the practice facility today.

Here are some stats about Trent at the browns (I am just putting this franchise on lower case status to further notice, what a joke they are)

He is 5th in running back receptions since 2012, at 58. He has caught more yards that Bradshaw and Brown combined.

Perhaps most importantly, when Trent was on the field, the browns qbs were sacked on 4.8% of dropbacks. When he was off the field, the percentage nearly doubled to 9.4%.

Luck will help Trent. Trent will help Luck. I bet Trent saw as many 8 man boxes last year as any running back not named AP. That won't happen with Luck at QB and Hilton, Wayne, DHB, and Fleener out wide.

Are the Browns trying to keep up with the Jags in the tank-a-thon for Bridgewater, Manziel, or Clowney?
whoa...Manziel is not the guy to tank for. He'll be a late first and that is if there is a crazy McDaniels-type out there who is in love..

I don't like it. Running is not how you win football games anymore.
Oh yeah because it was all Joe Flacco who led Baltimore's offense to a Super Bowl championship and Ray Rice had little to do with it...

The importance of the running game has not changed. You need a solid RB if you want your offense to be very good and well balanced. You can't rely on throwing on every down, no matter how great your QB is.

As far as us, we were desperate for a RB for the future. Ahmad is signed to a one year deal and who knows with Vick now. Was he ever going to be our featured back moving forward?

Even though we gave up a lot, look at what we got in return. Getting Trent is huge for us moving forward.

As a die hard Indy sports fan, I am ecstatic about the present and the future.

There could very well be two championship parades in one year in the city. One in February and the other in June. Possibly multiple titles for both the Colts and Pacers down the road as well.

I like the trade. Hope he can stay healthy in a Colts uni.

Apparently he's had a couple knee operations within the last couple years. That does worry me some
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

Torn meniscus and then a follow-up surgery to remove some loose cartilage related to the first operation. I mean, yea, it's surgery, but I'd be more concerned if it were ligament stuff. Was done by Dr. Andrews, so he was in good hands.

Guys, he's a top ten Running back. Everyone says "he only had 3.6 yards a carry last year!" he was playing on the browns with NO QB and no perimeter talent to take the 9 guys out of the box. "HE' S BEEN INJURED!" It was a meniscus and some broken ribs and the guy didn't miss much time. He fits the scheme in Indy and allows lucks great play action to be MUCH more effective.
Also think about this, he allows the perimeter talent to get more 1 on 1 matchups.
And to add onto that, if it was my rams getting him for the same price...I would be ecstatic.

Well it looks promising I hope it lives up to it. However as far as this Richardson thing is concerned while he's better than what we have currently in the position our RB is as good as the O-Line they run through...

That needs to be addressed above all else.

I like it. Would have loved it if Trent came with two of their lineman.

What? Browns O-line is worse than the Colts.

I'm really curious how this trade came about.

With the recent personnel losses, seems like OL would have been something the FO was shopping for but not an RB. Not that an RB upgrade doesn't make sense, but it seems like it would not have been the highest priority of the FO.

So, assuming they were not reaching out making calls for different RBs, I guess Cleveland was working the phones shopping Richardson? I am convinced this has to be the case, because I think there are several other RBs that probably would have come to mind before Richardson. Again, that is not a knock on Richardson at all. Merely my perspective that he would not be one of the first RBs the FO would have targeted.

Sure would like some inside scoop on this.

Not by a long shot. Cleveland's line is pretty damn good.

Some think he is the best back behind Adrian Peterson. I don't think you can judge him fairly yet. Cleveland had very little threat of a passing attack so teams could stuff the box. Add to this the bad O-line and it's not a good recipe for success. I think the Colts should use him heavily as a pass catcher out of the backfield personally. A safety or quick release valve for Andrew Luck. Just the threat of a running game will open up more for our talented receivers.

Well....Adam Schefter and Bill Polian disagree with you. They just said on round table that Brown's Oline is bad. They said the Brown's defense is good but everything about the offense is not good.

After Bill's horrible track record on evaluating talent at the tail end of his Colts tenure, not sure I would be using his opinion on evaluating talent. I would name my first born child after Grigs, if the Colts could somehow got Joe Thomas.

What if someone from a school of business or management school were to ask, How did you do this? How did you get the Pacers turned around? Is there a general approach you've taken that can be summarized?

    Larry Bird: Yeah, patience.

I agree with you 100% on using him as a receiver out of the backfield. I would love to see the Colts utilize this more with both Richardson and Bradshaw.

However, your response in no way addresses my question, which is how/why this deal came together.

I don't follow the Browns but who should I trust.......two guys that eat and sleep the NFL or a guy on the Pacers message board No offense...I respect your opinion, but there are obviously very different opinions. They said Richardson would be going to a better O-line.

I'm just saying that maybe Grigson DID see him as the best back out there. At least the best that they could realistically go after. That's why I said I don't think you can judge him as an NFL player yet.

that's fine, no offense taken lol. I don't follow them either, but I've seen them enough to know that Polian and Schefter are absolutely wrong, we have a bottom 5 offensive line, especially with Thomas done for the year.
