Default Clark Kellogg replaced by Greg Anthony as CBS lead analyst

    Little surprising

CBS college hoops analyst Clark Kellogg is reportedly headed back to the studio.

Sports Illustrated reported late Sunday night that CBS Sports will name Greg Anthony the lead analyst for the network’s college basketball game telecasts, replacing Kellogg. Kellogg will in turn replace Anthony in the studio.

Kellogg has been the lead college basketball analyst for CBS since the network dropped Billy Packer in 2008.

Anthony, who also works NBA coverage for NBA TV and TNT, is expected to work alongside Jim Nantz and Steve Kerr on CBS/Turner Sports coverage of the Final Four.

Maybe Clark was getting sick of the travel. I'm hoping he requested this, doesn't make much sense otherwise.

. Get ready for a major change with CBS's college basketball coverage this season. Longtime studio analyst Greg Anthony has become the network's lead game analyst and he'll partner with lead gamecaller Jim Nantz when Nantz ends his football commitment. Anthony has been with CBS since 2008 and also appears as an analyst for NBA TV.

What does that mean for Clark Kellogg? The network has been moving Kellogg to be its lead college basketball studio analyst, a role he held for 16 years before calling games. Kellogg will also serve as a game analyst on 10-12 regular-season games this season. Why the move? CBS thought Kellogg was better suited fo r the studio and Anthony for the arena. "It's a net-win for CBS and for Clark and Greg," CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus said.

While the on-air staffing for the NCAA tournament usually gets named in March with a joint CBS-Turner announcement -- CBS declined on Sunday to answer any questions on NCAA tournament staffing -- it's near-certain Anthony will now call the Final Four and championship game with Nantz and Steve Kerr of Turner Sports.

I don't like this move. Kellogg is much better of an analyst than Greg Anthony imho.
