this is the first SI report on OK State, about the money. I don't really care, that happens at tons of schools.

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/col...-part-1-money/

but what I do care about is T. Boone Pickens's response, because it's HILARIOUS. it's basically, "why you gotta bring up old stuff?"

just one step away from killing college football...just wait until the players keep backing the NCAA into a corner where the schools are forced to either pay everyone or drop football altogether.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

NY Times has the settlement at $40 mil. After the lawyers take there's, that's what, $300 or so per player?

Turnover Tommy rears his ugly head again.

Maybe it is just me, but I swear this ND team has come out flat EVERY single game. Extremely frustrating

He's bad. The team has looked flat; almost like they are comfortable with the success of last season and feel no pressure to follow up. There hasn't been a single impressive performance yet. Temple is brutally bad, Michigan has struggled with the miseries that are Akron and UConn football since their big matchup, Purdue is a dumpster fire, Michigan State cannot score on a half decent team, and this Oklahoma team might win the Big 12, but they are a borderline top 20 team at best. Notre Dame needs a fire lit under their asses.

USC just fired Lane Kiffin. pretty much everybody expected him to get fired but I really didn't expect it to happen mid-season.

This summer the USC and Texas jobs may be open. Those're probably the 2 of the top 5 or so jobs in college football.

Yeah, one has to think that the Texas job is the best job in college football.

My dad was pissed at Kelly for even talking to the Eagles. He has literally hated him since that happened.

I was willing to cut him some slack, but after the start of this season I am honestly tired of everything. I get Golston not being on the team is huge, but there is no guarantee he will come back

Hell, play a couple freshmen. I am sure they can throw 3 picks just as well as Tommy can. And they might even have upside (and last night did fall fall squarely on Tommy. Both lines got dominated....and that is just plain sad)

Obviously I wasn't wild about his Eagles flirtation, but it is what it is.

Yeah, I've seen enough of Rees. We can move on. Kelly pulled the **** that Kevin Wilson loves with his quarterbacks yesterday: Play a two QB system and sub in your "dual threat" QB and only run read option plays with that QB, so the defense knows exactly what's coming when Hendrix is in the game. The fact that we see that so often blows my mind. Just once I'd like to see a coach sub in their dual threat guy, have him fake the read with play action, and bomb one downfield.

That's true, at least to a certain extent. He did say the distance didn't really matter. And I don't think UCLA has gotten any farther way in the past couple months. I guess just chalk it up to a young kid not thinking it all the way through.

Can I just say I love that Jerry Jones bult a multi million dollar stadium, has an awesome HD screen in his stadium, and was rocking a flip phone at the game.

I think he was going to post here at PD to talk about the game, but his dial up kept crashing before he could log in.

    _____

Good win for Notre Dame......even if Turnover Tommy was hell bent on losing it (no kidding, he could have thrown 2 of 3 more picks in the defense would have held on)

Still a win, and I will take it.

EDIT: never thought about it, but a lot of people are saying that LB should have fallen down after his interception. Not sure I care either way, though I am truly baffled at the ND time out after a ASU timeout on 3rd down to call a fade.....

If it puts points on the board, it doesn't really matter. All you have to do is recover an onside kick.

I have seen instances where interception returns backfire, however. Last year I was watching Ball State on its Homecoming game where they scored with under a minute left to go up by 3. The safety picked off a pass, went about 10 yards, then ran into one of his own teammates and fumbled the ball. The other team got it back and kicked a 55 yard field goal to send the game to overtime. Ball State won, though.

Of course ASU almost recovered the on side kick.

I agree about the risks of returning a int sometimes.
