I'm really happy for Michigan State. What an incredible season. I usually don't give the slightest **** about bowl games, but I was looking forward to watching the Rose Bowl this year. It did not disappoint. Sparty's defense is absolutely incredible. Great win for the B1G.

Watching Evansville and Indiana State. Marty Simmons looks like the late Rick Majerus now.

Can't wait for FSU/Auburn, hopefully will be a very good game. Auburn has a Red Sox like destiny vibe, but FSU has just rolled over everyone. If I had to guess FSU wins by at least 2 TD's, but I could see Auburn pulling out another miracle.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

    If that the Evansville coach??

I must say he impressed the hell out of me with his beautiful motion offense(Majerus esq lol) when they played Xavier. I plan to watch Inst vs Evansville later, I really like how Evansville plays.

I know he's a freshman and all but Alford's kid doesn't belong anywhere near this level
Which son are you talking about?? Byrce is absolutely a D1 caliber player. He was one of the best HS players in his state last year and he is playing pretty well as a backup shooter. He is playing like a typical freshmen. He has one good game and then two where he struggles. He killed USC yesterday.

Auburn is looking pretty good against Florida State so far. 14-3 Tigers early in the 2nd quarter. The FSU secondary is having a hard time covering Auburn.

Hard not to root for Gus Malzahn and Auburn. That guy is an offensive genius. Texas should have waited and thrown open a bank vault for him instead of hiring Charlie Strong.

I'm rooting for Auburn. I have thought Florida State was overrated all year.

See, I'm an Arkansas fan, and watching Gus win at Auburn is brutal if you know the history. That you can't really hate the guy just makes it more frustrating.

Hog fans grow to hate Houston Nutt a little more each day.

Yeah, I'm vaguely familiar with the history. Wasn't Malzahn the OC at Arkansas under Nutt for one year, then Nutt ran him out of town, and Malzahn went on to oversee top ranked offenses at Tulsa the following two years?

Most of what you need to know is in this article, but yeah, basically this article sums up the story, minus some of the soap opera bits: http://espn.go.com/college-football/...5/book-malzahn

Edit: adding to that is that you can add Gus to Bear Bryant, Jimmie Johnson, and a long list of coaches with roots in Arkansas which had success outside of the state.

Emmanuel Mudiay, a top 5 or higher player for 2014, committed to SMU. Larry Brown up to his old tricks.
I watched him in the Tark classic and when he played Okafor the other day. He is my favorite pg in the class much better pro prospect than Jones. He is a blur quicker than most college guards watching him and Nic Moore next year will be fun. Larry is building something great at SMU.

Auburn seemed to choke, they played not to lose in the 2nd half, instead of trying to win.

When both positions were open this past offseason did Arkansas make a run at Malzahn?

I honestly don't know, but you can bet it's a topic of intense debate on Arkansas forums. I think the fanbase is right now divided along people who are waiting for Bielema's recruits to come in (which actually look impressive), irate "Gus Bussers" and those who don't understand legal issues and think we should never have fired Petrino.

Par for the course then for a college sports forum.

I'm not a big Bielema fan, FWIW, which is very little I'm sure.

I'm just glad that an SEC team did not win.

Even if I don't like FSU that much

It reminded me a lot of Vince Young vs the Trojans years ago in that same exact stadium.

^Guy seems like a little bit of a scumbag, but he seemed to have his pick of jobs this year (I assume TX did not offer though). Surprising he picked PSU (no offense).

And now that I think about it, Franklin had a team rape scandal last year or before at Vandy.

An obvious rule for the search committee at PSU, given their past, would seem to be:

"No hiring anyone having anything to do with rape."

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, the Aces ran a nice system and have some very nice young players. Of course I was happy State's experience won out. I hope we make it to the Wichita State game with no more losses and are able to knock em off at least once.

Here's what I don't get: Those four or so players that were part of that accusation were all kicked off the team by Franklin. What else can you do as the head coach? They violated team rules (life rules), and he kicked them off the team. Isn't that what you want?

Divorce "amateur" athletics from colleges and universities. That's what I want. Unless the whole "school pride" angle doesn't matter unless it's a semi-pro team that wears colors you like.
