I can't speak to that because I wasn't alive during Kareem's high school years but LeBron was getting nationally-televised games when he was a sophomore in high school. Not saying he was better than Kareem, but I remember hearing hype about him as early as 2001. At the least, LeBron is the second most-hyped high schooler ever... either way, I don't see Wiggins as a lock for future All Star games.
...which obviously hasn't been very long...
....and nobody argued that there was another player in the past 20 years. Please feel free to tell me a player that was more hyped than Wiggins the past 20 years that did not succeed. Because in my opinion only one guy was more hyped. And I think we know how that turned out. Just saying.
Kareem and Wilt were just as highly rated. Ralph Sampson was probably the most hyped high school player of all time.

Maybe it is because I live in Indy, more or less, but I feel like Oden was more hyped. I honestly have not seen one thing about Wiggins outside of this forum.
Another night, another backside-kicking. They just hit you from so many sides, now, in waves. It's like a cavalry, running down hill and trampling you underfoot. You have no tactical advantage, you're just swinging wildly in the mud, and the best strategy might be to play dead.
They are an absolute onslaught right now.

LeBron was EVERYWHERE in high school on ESPN and stuff, and that was well before the Twitter universe. I've heard less about Wiggins now than LeBron then by far.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

Well this article has Drummond at 3, Wiggins at 8
Paul George at 13, and Roy Hibbert at 36.
I had no idea that people were THIS high on Andre Drummond. I know he is expected to be a great Center, but I did not know people had him as a future top 3-10 players in the NBA. Pretty crazy PG is at 13 on this list. The potential he has shown compared to guys ahead of him isn't even close I don't think.
The opinions on PG vary so much. Some compare him to Gordon Hayward? I guess in the NBA people don't look at defense at all. Comparing Paul George to Gordon Hayward is one of the most disrespectful things I have seen. Hayward was the 3rd option on a team that did not make the playoffs.

PG has received a bunch of love this summer on a national level... He'll open more eyes next year...
It was just over a year ago that many on here were comparing him to the likes of Gordon Haywood or Tayshaun Prince... I'm not shocked that the whole country hasn't caught up yet...
And the only guy above PG that I vehemently disagree with is Griffin... He will most likely not age well... He's overrated as is... And I'm gonna make a prediction that Blake is going to be one of those guys that peaked in his rookie year once his story has been written... Drummond will not get that high IMO... But it could happen...

Nothing in life worth having comes easy.
So dumb. Guys on that list who aren't even in the NBA yet.
This is one of those many times I roll my eyes at sports media.
I Bleed Blue
Well obviously you see him on mock drafts, but yeah I don't pay attention to those at this point.
I don't visit or watch ESPN as much as I used to, but I still do enough that I would think I would see something without specifically looking for it.
