@BoilerBall: #Pride RT @CEmmaScout: New #Purdue freshmen have texted each other at 5 a.m., making sure each is out of bed and working out.

Counzo took the Cal job. Will be harder (impossible?) to get him now if we need him next summer (or the one after.)

yeah, that'd be his salary + Painter's buyout + whatever his Cal payout is. not happening.

There goes my hopes of Ryan Cline going to Belmont. Visiting Purdue this weekend and Xavier and a few other schools are in on him. He was underrated for so long.

I forget one poster said his 43% from 3pt wasn't impressive. To me it was. He was Carmel's only ball handler. If he was playing off the ball I would say the % would go up 10%

He will be a good get for whoever he signs with.

Don't think there will be as much fan support to keep him here as there was last time around.

Don't think there will be as much administrative support from Missouri as there was last time around, either.

yeah, wouldn't really make any sense for Mizzou, but wouldn't see me complaining. maybe familiarity and the thought they could probably definitely get him would get his name floated, I dunno.

assuming Burke retires and the regents quit siphoning money from athletics. Purdue's got ****ing massive problems FAR beyond Painter. Painter's probably the best thing about our revenue athletics. I don't think Burke's THE problem, but he does as he's told, retire and promote Cardinal. they need new blood in the worst damn way.

when did Smith become servicable? Junior year?

    ---

Also, UT turned down by Lousiana Tech head coach, apparently. Serves them right for doing 'Zo dirty like that.

Yeah, Smith was a nobody until his junior year, spot minutes as a frosh then a bit player as a soph. I remember a lot of Painter and player comments about how Smith was this insane shooter his first couple years then he'd get some minutes and put up bricks that had people (me included) going nuts. then he bulked up a bit as a junior and hit 43%+ from deep on a ton of attempts his last 2 years. I think that'd be a fair trajectory for Cline if he commits, seems able to handle the ball better than Smith could at this point though.
