If any of you Purdue fans are bored check out ESPNU. The finals of the adidas tournament in Vegas is on. Indiana is up 10 and Ryan Cline has hit 6 3's in the first half. If Painter can hide this kid on defense he will be tremendous for Purdue.

Cline looks Steve Novak -esque to me. Shooter, but didn't look athletic or skilled defensively. Also haven't watched HS bball ever really.

Cline has always looked like **** on defense in AAU. He will be alright in college. The style of play is different. He is super stiff I have always said yhst but he is a terrific offensive player. A good coach will figure out how to scheme him.

Sad to see thst Indiana Elite team go. One of my favorite AAU teams of the past few years. They all play so well together.

a 6'3" Steve Novak? Don't get me too excited now!

(But seriously that could work at the college level (or at least help given where we are))

Despite some of the hype last night, I don't think I'm really excited. He will help I'm sure, but seems like he'll be Ryne Smith again basically.

Cline will never be a great athlete or defender. He will need to be hidden on defense big time. The coaching staff will have to figure that out.

The thing that impressed me about Cline is the fact that he can create space extremely well to get his shot off. He has a quick release. Elite level athletes do not seem to bother him as much as you might expect. Cline is also extremely intelligent. His use of head fakes and ball fakes is superb. He is also extremely fundamental.I think he will be a terrific offensive weapon for Purdue.

yeah, I'm happy to have him don't get me wrong, but people were going crazy about that final game while completely ignoring him averaging like 8 a game the rest of that tourney

Yup, I think he will be great...assuming there are several other talented offensive and defensive players. In other words, great 4th/5th option/role player, not much above that.

So I bought Purdue football season tickets. I'm a glutton for punishment.

Okay so who is the Grant Weatherford kid? Did we need another PG?

    Here's a little:

@markodascout: Not sure what to say about the Weatherford offer other than this. The kid wins. He and Cline both win. They're a special tandem.

@markodascout: What this obviously says about our state of basketball at purdue is this. There needed to be a major culture change in the locker room.

@markodascout: They've brought in guys the last 2 classes to do that. High character leaders and hate losing and love basketball.

@EvanDaniels: Grant Weatherford received the fourth most votes in the most competitive player of July voting. He's an energetic player that can defend.

@markodascout: If a coach tells you he wants warrior's and that's why they're offering you...I'm telling you that kid is gonna give his soul to win...

@markodascout: That's what Purdue is getting with Weatherford. A winner and warrior. No better way to describe it.

@markodascout: Purdue is becoming Purdue again so to speak...

I don't get offering this Weatherford kid. It's not a good sign when you're his first major offer this late in the game and he immediately jumps on it. This next Kramer hype better not be ********.

I agree, if he's being touted as the next Kramer, he better be. Damn, could we use another Kramer though. Bryson Scott was supposed to be a little like Chris too I thought. Maybe if we pick up enough of these guys we will find one. They really need to get back to Purdue basketball.

That's a good bunch right there. Would've liked to go yesterday. Like seeing guys get back together like that.

Color me a little surprised to hear you guys offered Weatherford. Granted I have not seen him play much, but in the finals of the AAU event he looked really shaky with the ball. Yes, it is a very small sample size, but with that said I was still pretty darn surprised.
