So Etling's the starter the rest of the way, that's not surprising.

But what is surprising, Rob Henry was apparently wearing #22 in practice today. Meaning he plays safety now.
Should have happened a long time ago Henry did not fit what we had planned, hopefully he does good at safety... I bet he will get occasional looks at RB also...

Taylor Martinez is out tomorrow. Not that it'll likely make much difference.

Heard a lot of good things out of the initial basketball practices. I think a couple fifth years will make a bigger difference than whatever points and rebounds they get. Sounds like guys are a little more focused and hard working.

I've seen a few clips and whatnot from the practices, they definitely look intense. Sporty Carter didn't have the best rep with Seattle U fans, they all thought he was a chucker. He may be, hope not, but we'll see. He looked pretty good in the stuff I saw, really aggressive.

Looks like Hummel made the TWolves. Budinger injury probably helped.

    Good for him.

Never want to get too excited in the preseason, but it's hard not too. Liking what I'm seeing from the bball team though.

I, for one, am completely stunned that A.J. Hammons got suspended.

Hey checkout rivals.com for purdue, have video of a scrimmage and it is player specific, we have a good group this year, I am really impressed by many of them, Basil and Bryson really work well together... should have a strong bench this year even if it does consist of a ton of young guys.

AJ's a dumbass. NBA teams, y'know, talk to your college coaches. It's apparently nothing legal or academic, so it's not that, but Jesus dude, get your **** together. How hard is it to get to practices and classes on time or whatever it is.

Also, Derek Willis is apparently killing it in the UK scrimmages. So that's cool.

My somewhat educated guess would be that it is a failed drug test.

Maybe, I wouldn't be shocked. Purdue has (had?) some of the most lenient athlete drug policies in the country. Just don't know if that'd fall into what Washburn said about it not being anything legal, probably not I guess. All Painter's said is it's "conduct" and that's it. I'm just going off last year when he was late for the team bus against Northwestern and Painter sat him for the first 5 minutes or whatever it was.

My guess, and it is just that, is based on other athletes who I know failed drug tests and received suspensions for "conduct" both at other institutions but more so than anything based on the fact that it was A.J. Hammons. Also, a failed drug test wouldn't actually be a legal matter. Truthfully, I'd rather it be a failed drug test than being late for practice or something of that sort.

Willis is a beast I remember when I saw him after he committed to Purdue, he was the best person on the floor every game of the tourney...

Did watch, and I wouldn't want to with the terrible student broadcasters, but the score was unimpressive.

I'm gonna catch the BTN replay (Friday at noon, heads up), but yeah, not impressed with a 7 point win against UIndy at Mackey, Hammons or no Hammons.

We're apparently wearing these against OSU on Saturday.

I dig em, always like matte colors on helmets. So our uniforms'll look good at least.

For a trainwreck of a program, it's appropriate.

Honestly I expected things to be bad this year. Hazell was put in a really tough spot with the schedule he inherited. But, my god, it's so much worse than I ever thought.

Yeah, I was thinking hey maybe we can backdoor our way into a Pizza Bowl or something. But I'd be pretty surprised if we win another game. I don't really know what to make of it, like 60% of the roster is underclassmen, but still. I'm not gonna get all up in arms really just because if I wanted to it's not like we're going to one and done a football coach, no sense in driving myself crazy. But man, we've not had encouraging results against...****, anyone really. The ND game was encouraging, then that went away quickly. Especially since ND isn't any good.
