Mayor declares 'Blue Friday' for Colts playoff game
January 12, 2005
Mayor Bart Peterson declared this coming Friday as "Blue Friday" and encouraged the entire city to wear Indianapolis Colts colors, T-shirts and jerseys in honor of their Sunday playoff game against the New England Patriots.
"The Colts once again are bringing national exposure to our city and state and all our great fans, and we believe this magical season will continue all the way to Jacksonville," Peterson said.
The mayor is encouraging Indianapolis residents and employees to:
-Wear Colts colors on Friday and throughout the weekend. City employees will be allowed to dress casually Friday to wear Colts colors;
-Fly Colts flags and banners in their homes and offices; and
-Hold Colts parties and get-togethers to watch Sunday's game with fellow fans.
Local businesses also can get in the spirit by:
-Encouraging employees to wear Colts colors throughout the weekend;
-Hanging Colts posters and banners in storefronts; and
-Spelling out "Go Colts" on their outdoor signs.
The Mayor added that fans, in addition to rooting for the Colts in New England on Sunday, should send their best wishes and thoughts this weekend to the New York Jets.
I liked that last line
