    Default A skinny Jeff Saturday!

You know how hippos are made out to be sweet and silly, like big cows, but are actually extremely dangerous and can kill you with stunning brutality? The Pacers are the NBA's hippos....Matt Moore CBS Sports....

Now we know why the Broncos signed Ryan Lilja instead of Jeff Saturday to play center.

This reminds of hearing about Mark Schlereth talk about his weight loss when he retired. He said he was willing to do whatever it took to remain in the NFL, which included having about 20 surgeries. Once he retired, he lost about 55 to 60 pounds in a short amount of time. He said it was great to go to bed hungry, which was a luxury he couldn't afford being an NFL offensive lineman.

It looks like Saturday was in a similar situation to Schlereth. I wonder how many offensive lineman do this when they retire.

Listened to a podcast with Jeff as a guest star lately and he was asked about how thin he looks right now. He explained that during his playing time he had to eat a lot even though he was not hungry cause otherwise he wouldn't stand a chance.

Clearly, it was something he didn't enjoy and as soon as he made up his mind last season he contacted some nutritionist (?) he knew about what he should do in order to lose weight.
    Good for Jeff.

Not Tarik Glenn Saw him at a Pacer game last year and he is bigger than his already enormous playing size.

Tarik Glenn is terrifying. I met him through work briefly a few years ago, and he intimidated the hell out of me

Even more amazing than Jeff's weight loss was the following article lower down on the page............

NHL player Ilya Kovalchuk – The former New Jersey Devils player announced his retirement at the age of 30. He retires with $77 million and 12 years remaining on his contract.

    what???????????

    Is that guaranteed money?

He's leaving the NHL to go back to Russia and play in the KHL. He'll make a bunch of money there too. Not $77mil but it will be enough.

Props to Jeff for losing all that way. Carrying all of the extra weight that the OL and DL do is just not healthy for the body. I could not imagine eating so much when you are not even hungry. I would just end up getting sick.

That's cool! Most of us wish we could eat more. Offensive lineman wish they could eat less. What age do most of you feel your metabolism slowed way down? I would say around 30 for me.
