I am anxious to see when the Pacers come to Charlotte. I will be at those games.
Me too! Moved to Chapel Hill last year. First time in a while I'm close enough to head to a Pacer's game that's somewhat close. The great thing is that since it's Charlotte, you can get seats behind the Pacers bench relatively on the cheap. That's what I'll be doing. Perhaps we can find a place for PD members to meet up before the game.

What would everyone think of starting a generic thread for Pacer's road games so non-local Pacer fans can try to meet up when the team comes to their city?
It sounds like we already have a group in Portland and Charlotte. I know we have a sizable LA contingent as well.

I think the past we have open @ Detroit @ Toronto @ Philly.....so i'll go with @ toronto. First home game will be Saturday night vs Boston! Will be on ESPN.
At Detroit's a possibility. The Pistons always play the first couple of games at home because they go on a 5 game west coast road trip in early November every year.

If broadcast TV games were done fairly then yes you would be correct. However LA still is a huge TV market and the Lakers are still a compelling story even if they suck because of all of the post Dwight drama and now the Bryant return.

So while your idea makes some logical sense, sadly it won't happen. In fact we already know that Miami & LA Lakers play Christmas day game (NBA's national tip off game) so believe me you won't be seeing any less Lakers this year. It will take Bryant's retirement and several years of being like Boston was back in the 90's for LA to lose national TV coverage.
The Lakers will also benefit from the "10:30 rule."

What's the 10:30 rule, you ask?

Only 8 teams (Denver, Utah, Phoenix, Lakers, Clippers, Golden State, Sacramento, and Portland) out of 30 can host games at 10:30 without it being ridiculously late local time. And this season, 3 teams (Utah, Phoenix, and Sacramento) will stink, so they'll probably not be on national TV at all. And you can certainly argue that the Lakers will be about as good as Portland and Denver. The "10:30 rule" will also help get the Lakers more national TV games than they would normally deserve. Utah has benefitted from this in past years.

I swear I read or heard somewhere that its going to be Chicago @ Miami for the ring ceremony. I get a little bit of joy knowing that Chicago has to sit there and watch that.

For those around Charlotte I definitely would not mind getting there early and meeting some of you. Sounds like a good time.

I'd be down with this. There is a Bay Area contingent as well, some of us have been talking about maybe meeting up in both Sactown and Oakland for those games...

I don't know about the SacTown game...but definitely for the GSW game. I'd hope that if there is a WestCoast Road Trip that some ( like last year ) from PD would decide to take a jaunt out to the West Coast.

I'd love to do this for Pacers-Cavs games in the Cleve.

Also going to Taiwan. I'm guessing this Asia thing is about the former Yao team still being popular out there. I guess this is good for the Pacers, as any exposure out there might get us more fans where population and economies are growing.

I don't know about you, but if Rose is ready to go, I don't know if I want him having the extra motivation of watching Miami's ring ceremony for an entire season.

Rose will never forget what happens.

Since everyone is waiting for the schedule:

Rumors on twitter are saying Pacers open vs the Spurs and have a Christmas game.

We'll see if it's true in less than 1 1/2 hours.

That is weird, I guess the overseas trip has changed the schedule and essentially those are treated as home games and instead of 8 games, we only have 6.
I paid for 43 season tickets so Im guessing they add one more home preseason game. or I want my money back for one game since I will only be seeing 42 lol

Reggies just posted a cryptic tweet from Roy.

""Xmas??? Nice. Finally." It just kind of sat out there by itself, with no other contextual tweets. My first assumption was he saw the schedule early, as Mark Boyle said he saw it early and made a joke about how the big market NBA is sticking it to the small markets by giving Indy 41 away games.

So if it's Pacers @ Spurs game 1, I could see there being like Pacers @ Rockets on the Thursday or Friday, then going back home for the opener there on Saturday.

It'll be the NBA's only back-to-back-to-back-to-back of the season: Pacers@Spurs, Pacers@Houston, Pacers@Dallas, then Pacers at home v. Miami.

We open the season vs the Magic at home on opening night. Kind of sucks to play during a great double header.
