Reading the quotes we basically have 7 starters. I think Lance and Scola both play close to starters PT. 25-30mpg also can give Dwest rest some games when needed.

I bet we just leave the 2 roster spots open going into the season and if someone in camp from our team or another team plays well and gets cut we may sign them.
This just gives us a ton of flexibility too. To me, this is an absolute home run of a deal all the way around. Scola gives us offensive pop off the bench, insurance in case of a West/Hibbert injury, and a solid veteran presence who will fit in perfectly in the locker room. It moves the needle for me on the Copeland signing from a bit of a head scratcher to a solid signing now that I know he won't be the primary backup at power forward. It allows us to limit Roy and West's minutes in the regular season to save them for the playoffs. It didn't cost us any real assets for the upcoming season. It shed Green's awful contract while getting Plumlee's guaranteed money off the books as well. We keep ourselves at arm's length from the luxury tax and have roster flexibility. This trade, in short, is the tits.

Except he's a lot better than Boris Diaw.
Scola is the better offensive player while Boris is the better passer and defender, I think their impacts are similar off the bench.

Note: remember who was the one player that was able to kind of shut Lebron down in the finals, yes Boris freaking Diaw.

I like Sloan, but he is essentially a poor mans George Hill. Marshall would at least bring an element to the game that no one else on our team really has. I'm fine with Sloan, I was just saying I'd love Marshall.
Third point guard is an emergency point guard. You aren't signing a guy like that to diversify your team. You sign guys like that to not submarine your team in the event of an injury.

Very nicely done by the Pacers and great trade by the Suns as well. Recall last year the Suns got Scola for nothing (claimed off amnesty waivers); now they just turned him into something. Good deal for both teams.

I must have missed that. Whatever. No sense in getting in that debate.

ESPN may be bias to all hell... But I have never seen them publish a report that was false.
I have. The only one I can remember right now is they reported Artest was in a fight at a party at the all star game one year and he wasn't even in the same state. They like to report things first and then they jerk them quick after they get information that makes their report false.

Same was said about DJ... We are a team passing offense, PG's that need the ball in their hands just don't fit our current system, they tend to hinder/interrupt our flow more than anything.

I'm not mad we traded Plumlee, remember that at the time that pick was not Plumlee yet, meaning that we could have used that pick for something else.
I totally agree, but if you told me we could trade any prospect on the board at the time for Scola and another 1st I would of done it. We already picked Plumlee can't change that and as it turns out he became a good pick, he was an asset that netted a good player. I would of never guessed that would happen with plumlee but it did. Plumlee and the 1st are the assets in the trade for PHX so no doubt Plumlee served his purpose for the Pacers even though I believe he was a bad pick at the time.

Wonder who we'll bring in for a third string center. Probably has to be someone cheap, as we're what $1 million under the LT threshold?

Someone like Cole Aldrich may not be a bad option. He's 24, and probably would do about the same as Plumlee would've.

LOL, Sloan is a tank that will drive at will, no poor man's George Hill there, polar opposite. You might want to watch Sloan play for awhile. Watson is more of a poor man's George Hill.

When I lived in Houston a few years ago, I had partial season tickets to Rockets games. I didn't really know anyone down there so I would kind of just chat it up with the people sitting around me a lot, and I can say that almost all of them voted Scola as their favorite player. The fans adored him down there, and it wasn't hard to see why. He was a model representative for the franchise and the city too.

Call me crazy, but I think the Pacers have a chance to be the first team to go 82-0, possibly 98-0 depending on how the playoffs shake out.
You and the 4 guys that agreed with you are crazy. That will never happen. Hot shooting will take down any team, and sometimes hot shooters just can't be stopped at all.

Great to be in complete Title or Bust mode.

Bird's not screwing around. He actually said on Query and Schultz he's looking to add 2 players. 1 down, 1 more to go?

Yeah I don't want to get into that debate either and just letting you know that Diaw is not garbage like some people around here think coughPeckcough that guy has been huge for San Antonio since they got him, I hope Scola has a similar impact.

It's pretty annoying to look at some of the dumb comments on the facebook announcement. "Derr Pacers need a PG not a PF should have got Rondo" ... "We gave up Hansbrough for THIS?!" ... "Why did we get rid of Green he was a young talent...derp"

Can you imagine the uproar it would have caused if it leaked that this deal didn't get done because we wouldn't include Miles ****ing Plumlee?

Gotta wonder if the Celtics/Nets trade had any impact on him finally caving on the trade(if he had previously been unwilling to include Plumlee).
