Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.
"A player who makes a team great is more valuable than a great player. Losing yourself in the group, for the good of the group, thatís teamwork."
2014 post Tim Priller out of Texas committed to Indiana according.to his high school coach Trey Washington.— Jerry Meyer (@jerrymeyer247) April 27, 2014
If i was damn near close to 7ft i rekon i could get a scholly at the minute.
Counting down the days untill DJ Augustin's contract expires.
I read he was a stretch big, and he is 6'9 but only 200 lbs. I am not sure this solves Indiana's paint problems, but the dude did hit 51% of his 3's last year. Best case scenario is he stretches the floor and opens up lanes for Yogi.
Granted I don't know anything about this kid, that April kid either, and I know IU obviously just needs bodies next year on the block, but I don't really get why Crean just isn't banking scholarships and making heavy play major minutes from day one pushes for top tier 2015 bigs. these dudes are obviously going to get recruited over and it's not like they're going to do anything as true freshman (I assume anyway). I'm seriously not hating, I just really don't get it, those dudes are going to transfer and it's going to hurt pipelines for the sake of having 5 fouls. this Priller kid looks like a walk on.
or hell, maybe he found a diamond I guess.
Crean doesn't bank scholarships. Like, ever. He's on record saying he'd rather have too many players than not enough. We're going to have six freshmen again next season and probably 3 of them will graduate/go pro.
I don't like to be critical of players who sign with us without really knowing them, but this is a classic case of Crean being Crean. A senior transfer would help a lot more next season. Instead, we'll continue to have defections because he's wasting so many scholarships on guys who can't contribute just to fill the roster.
Priller averaged nearly 18 points per game playing for a 5A school (largest class) in Texas. He also shot 51% from 3 and once scored 30 points in the second half of a game.
So there's that, I guess.
All I know is 5* (Perea) or no-star, more of Crean's bigs have resembled Bawa Muniru than Cody Zeller. I'm less inclined to blame the kid than the coach on that one.
There was a Q&A with this Priller kid. Some real gems in here:
Q - Why Indiana?
Priller: It's Indiana, it is a great basketball school. I looked up the campus on the internet. Looked up all the things about basketball. The head coach, Tom Crean, came in to watch me play at my school. I liked him, liked their assistant.Q - At the very end what other schools were involved -- the colleges you had to say no to?
Priller: Albany, University of Illinois-Chicago, Drexel and Lamar.
It would have been funnier if they had posted Purdue's phone #.
I am hearing Indiana may have plans to enclose the South Endzone of Memorial Stadium...
Welcome back George Hill!
Dustin Demuth has reached base in 39 straight games for IU, now 30-12 overall and 14-2 in the Big Ten after a 6-0 win over Purdue today.
Strength of schedule: 13
When IU beats the crap out of Purdue in something, it can't go unnoticed.
The baseball team swept the Boilers this weekend 6-0, 7-3 and 12-3. Purdue's starting pitcher in today's game threw a shutout in his high school state championship game. IU knocked him out after one inning in which they batted around and scored five runs.
