So we got a 7 footer to commit. Jeremiah April. Literally never heard his name before he committed. So...there's that.

Looks like he has a good mid-range jumper, 7 foot, averaged 19 pts 11 rebs and 5.5 blocks this past year, offers from Arizona State and Marquette

Not rated as high, obviously, but we may have found Luke Fischer's replacement.

He's so under the radar, that Rivals doesn't even have a picture of him.

I guess some players just like not playing. I don't see how a 2 star will ever see the court for Crean.

He found a way to get Johnny Marlin and Jeff Howard in at the same time against Michigan. If you put a kid on his bench, Crean will play him.

Another sweep for IU baseball, this time at home over MSU. The Hoosiers gave up only two runs all weekend. Now 25-11 overall and two games up on everyone in the Big Ten at 11-1.

The star system is overrated and dumb. If I've learned anything from "The Movement", it's how absurd it is to get too concerned about prospect rankings.

Much more important: does the kid fit the system? Can he evolve in the system?

If April can do both, he will be a good addition to the program.

But for those out there who forget guys like Oladipo, Sheehey, Devin Davis etc. were rated way lower than Hollowell, Perea, etc. just remember that.

"The hard thing was just getting him (academically) cleared," said Pamela Nailing, Jeremiah's mother. "It was definitely a journey. Indiana came out of nowhere. We don't know how they got his name. God did it."

Nailing said that Washington State was ready to offer and Marquette and Arizona State came it. But it was too late. He also began to get strong interest from Oral Roberts.

"We were not hearing from anyone," Nailing said.

April didn't want to go the junior college route, and was ecstatic to get the Indiana offer.

    1) Yes, the star system is overrated, but it's the best way we can evaluate these sort of things.
    2) What system?
    3) Again, what system?
    4) Oladipo and Sheehey didn't evolve because they fit the system. They evolved because they are maniacal workers who lived in the gym. The jury is still out on Devin Davis (count me a fan, though), but he is much the same: The guy has a constantly running motor. Those guys will succeed in college basketball. Does this April kid have that work ethic? That's a much bigger question than him fitting into any system.

Yeah, although he plateaued his senior season.

Ron Hunter has amassed some talent down there. They should have been in the NCAAs last year, but they got upset in their conference tournament. Between RJ Hunter, Ryan Harrow, Jeremy Hollowell, and Kevin Ware, they are poised to be in the upper echelons of the Sun Belt for the next few years. I'm guessing Ron Hunter will be a candidate for major conference openings sooner rather than later.

The state of Indiana can't have nice things. Maybe I need to get out while I can.

Nothing new. Players did this all the time when I went to IU, before Crean was even coach. It's dumb, and yes, it should come with some form of punishment. But I'm going to get ahead of the Crean blame on this one: no.

Why would anyone blame Crean for this?

Yogi Ferrell deserves the "Dumbass Athlete of the week" award. Especially since he turns 21 in two weeks.
