Is anyone actually going to watch?

Call me a bad fan if you want, but I'm seriously not sure I even want my season tickets next year. I am so sick of watching Crean's offense.
You're not a bad fan. I can't watch this year's team. I normally check my phone when they play, and if it's close with 5-10 minutes left, I'll turn on the TV. But they're just too painful to watch for an entire game, especially after last year. It's like watching The Godfather and skipping right to The Godfather III.

Crean's first three seasons, I quit watching games by this point. I don't know why, but I'm not able to now. Maybe I got too used to expecting to win.

Tomorrow just feels like it will be Purdue's day. They'll be out for blood and I honestly can't remember ever winning three straight in Mackey.

Crean's remaining time will be decided by how much the fans begin to grumble about legitimate coaching issues and even tune out versus the amount of money that a few millionaire donors will be offering to willingly put up to buy him out. When those things come together Crean will be gone.

Whether we're talking a year or years I don't know. This season isn't going to help him. Maybe next season he can buy himself some time. But he's clearly IMHO not good enough to totally stop the momentum of a "Crean must go" movement now that the genie is out of the bottle and people can see the flaws and warts.

I can already see where this is going, even though ESPN is still showing a game even fewer people care about. This team will probably quit on Crean just like his 2009-2011 teams did.

Well, we have picked up right where we left off against the Nittanys with the turnovers. On the plus side, Will Sheehey loves playing against Purdue, especially in Mackey. He loves to be hated.

If you say so.. I don't really see it. Both teams have mediocre talent especially with the Cs being off the floor. Both teams really flawed basketball teams.

How do you call a foul on the baseline with 2 seconds left?

The better question is why do you foul with 2 seconds left in the bonus? The ref just did his job. Have to be smarter than that.

I do think so. We are an infinitely stupider team though. Also, really poorly coached.

Honestly, best college basketball team in the state of Indiana this year: Indiana State.

Indiana and Purdue suck. Butler is a mess. Ball State and IUPUI are two of the very worst teams in D1. Evansville has returned to the basement of the MVC.

Normally, I can't stand listening to Dakich, but he was spot-on today.

In order for Crean to win a title here he will need to recruit a team with insane talent to cover up his horrible coaching.

I think even that team would get stopped on the tourney trail. That's just the recipe he needs to even have a chance at a deep tournament run and sniff a championship game.

No Tom Crean team will ever be accused of over-achieving.

So once the tourney starts and IU's hypothetical uber talented but under-coached team meets a moderately talented but highly motivated and well coached team who has had time to properly prepare for IU it will be hard for IU to win. That is normal tourney trail scenario. IU will be taken out of what they want to do, and Crean will have them ill-prepared for that scenario. And at the point their talent just isn't enough, they will become frustrated and simply feed the beast as the upstart twists the knife and IU falls apart even more.

And I'm no longer convinced that Crean's alleged forte' of recruiting is all that good. I'm not sure he understands the need to balance his recruits via needed positions, nor how to utilize and adjust to the players he does get. And as this becomes more and more obvious, along with his actually weak coaching being exposed, it will negatively impact recruiting even more. That's why this entire thing has the potential to snowball quickly. The next IU coach might not inherent sanctions, but he's not going to inherent a solid, balanced, athletic team either. The cupboards will be much more bare than they otherwise should be once players realize Crean is a salesman at best, not a coach. He might even be energetic and highly motivated, but if he hasn't gotten the other stuff figured out by now then it's not happening.

We can't fire Tomcat because of his absured buyout, but we can and should fire glass.

While watching the game today, I was reminded of a Remember the Titans quote as I watched everyone stand around and watch poor Yogi try to go everything on offense, EFFORT REFLECTS LEADERSHIP.

Consider how bare the cupboard was when Crean arrived, consider how little talent we had and then consider that this may be the worst week in Crean's IU tenure and it is year 6. He has two McDonald's All Americans and Purdue has none. That should really put in perspective how terrible and unacceptable this week has been.

Will Sheehey is officially my least favorite 4 year IU player since I've been alive. He has not improved at all since sophomore year and is arguably the worst decision maker and defender in the starting lineup which is truly an extraoridinary feat for the lone senior.

We have one more game that I consider winnable right now, home against Nebraska....and even then.

That woudl be a losing season. Below .500. In year 6. With two McDonald's All Americans in his starting lineup and 3 other 4 star top 50 recruits in the rotation. Embarrassing is really the only word I can come up with for this coaching staff.

Dakich loves Crean. He defends him constantly on his radio show and will continue to. Dakich does not like a lot of the talent on IU's team. Specifically Hollowell and Perea.

Honestly, we (and as an alum I feel like I can say we for Indiana State) could finish 25 - 8 and not make the tournament. I think the only way we make it in is if we win the conference tournament, which is an issue since one of the top 5 teams in the country is in our conference.

I work in Bloomington, and I joke around that I'm really looking forward to that Indiana State - Indiana NIT game. Now I feel like that may be giving Indiana too much credit.
