yeh, i am looking at the last iu title and i see things like duke has gone on to win it 4 times now, kentucky 3, uconn 3, unc 3, kansas 2, florida 2.
Yep, and then you've had programs like Louisville win a championship and go to multiple Final Fours, Syracuse win a championship and go to multiple Final Fours, Michigan State win a championship and go to multiple Final Fours, etc. To anyone in high school who is looking at where to play, these programs are going to have far more clout than IU since they have been relevant in their lifetime while IU really hasn't.

Even worse is when you observe how other programs with historical success that had struggled for several years since their halcyon days opened up their checkbooks to get a top coach.

I'm looking at Alabama football when they splurged to get Saban, Kentucky basketball when they splurged to get Calipari.

IU went the cheap route to get coaches and got cheap results.

To this day I've never figured out what IU saw in Mike Davis's interim season that led them to believe he deserved the job.

Tom Crean is the 8th highest paid coach in the country. They didn't exactly go the cheap route.

I don't really know how this is possible, but Joe Lunardi has IU among the First Four Out in his latest tourney projections. I guess there is still some hope for this team making the tournament, but they are going to need some more big wins I'm guessing to actually do it.

Wins over Wiscy and MIch are pretty solid. Remember MIch was the hottest team in the nation arguably.

I still don't think we make it without another a big win, but it's possible. I don't want to get too far ahead of myself considering the horrifying unpredictability of this team but the next 5 are all winnable.

I don't think we necessarily need another "big" win as much as we just need to stop losing to bad teams.

Wisconsin isn't even ranked anymore. That win was much better at the time than it is now, and the committee will certainly factor that in. We have many more bad losses than good wins.

According to Derek Schultz after his participation in the NCAA's mock selection committee, the win against Wisconsin will solely be evaluated based on where Wisconsin is at the time of the selection. So if they're considered the 20th best team in the country after the B1G tournament, IU will get credit for beating the 20th best team in the country. That they were #3 in the polls when IU beat them, will not be taken into consideration at all.

Wisconsin does still have an RPI of 11 and Michigan is 14. So those are still pretty solid wins. But Indiana's RPI is 64 those are the only wins they've got against the top-50. So that would seem to put it pretty far on the wrong end of the bubble right now. Farther than Lunardi thinks at least.

I'd think they need to get to at least 5 top-50 wins to have a shot at an at large slot after their ridiculous out of conference schedule. They've got chances at Minnesota (40), vs Iowa (36), at Wisconsin (11), vs Ohio State (16), and at Michigan (14) to add to their 2 quality wins. It's tough to see them winning 3 of those 5. And that's if they manage to avoid anymore bad losses. Which is also tough to see with the roller coaster they've been on.

beating minn up there is ALWAYS a tall order. i don't know what iu's record up there is but, it can't be good. it seems like even when the hoosiers were stocked with good players, minn. either gave them all they could handle or wins. those guys play iu tough up there even when they aren't very good.

IU is 95-67 all time against Minnesota, but 35-43 in Minneapolis.

The only coach I would consider right now and would fire Crean for is Gregg Marshall. But I really dislike the graduation rate and the type of kids he normally recruits. It isn't Calhoun bad, but it certainly isn't a guy who puts academics high on his list of priorities. I known Hesinberg mentioned Shaka, but basketball wise I like Marshall over him.

I have no idea what to expect tonight. On the road in the funky Barn, I don't really expect a win, but if this team is serious about making the tournament, this is the type of game they have to win.

If you are a ranked team and you lose to Indiana, apparently it is the start of a downward spiral. Iowa is blowing Michigan's doors off.

Of course a mini implosion at the end of the first half to gift them 4 points. No need for ball security we are up double figures.

10 point lead down to 4 in a little over 1 minute game time. SMH

Now they cut it to 3, so better turn it over. God damn this team is mentally weak

    And yet another turnover. Jesus

I think Bardo said this in the first half, but I'll echo it here: Once Troy Williams learns how to play under control--watch out.

It is time for Crean to go. This team is so underachieving it is absolutely pathetic. Guys don't know their roles, they don't know where they are supposed to be. And we can't execute down the stretch to save our ****ing lives

Explain to me what Crean expects to happen with that weave he constantly runs at the top of the key?
Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.
