Preseason Top 25 for Baseball was released today. Indiana is preseason #3...in the country. That's tied for the highest preseason ranking for a Big Ten team in history (Michigan was preseason #3 also in 1988). It's also the only time in school history the Hoosiers have even cracked the preseason top 25. We are also the only B1G team in the top 25. Tracy Smith is doing work at IU!

    Top 5:
    1. Virginia
    2. Oregon State
    3. Indiana
    4. Cal State Fullerton
    5. NC State

The men's soccer, basketball and baseball teams all had seasons to remember last year. This year soccer was a total flop and basketball hasn't been much better. Let's hope the baseball team doesn't feel like underachieving too.

    http://insider.espn.go.com/college-f...ced-teams-2014

There are several ways to analyze a college football team's returning experience. Each year in my preseason College Football Preview, I publish an experience chart that takes into consideration returning starters, number of upperclassman starters, percentage of yards and tackles returning and career number of offensive line starts returning.

While my final experience chart will not be completed for a few months, here is a list at first glance of five teams that will head into the 2014 season with the most experience.

    Indiana Hoosiers
The Hoosiers were one of the most experienced teams in the country last year but failed to meet a lot of people's expectations (including mine) by finishing 5-7. In 2014, they remain at the top in terms of experience as their 18 returning starters are the most among any team in the power five conferences.

In 2014, the Hoosiers welcome back eight starters from an offense that was one of the most explosive in the country, averaging 38 points per game (NCAA rank No. 16) and 509 yards per game (No. 9). Both Nate Sudfeld and Tre Roberson return at quarterback, as the two combined for 3,651 pass yards and 36 touchdown passes. Leading rusher Tevin Coleman, who emerged with 958 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2013, is back. They do lose two of their top three receivers but welcome back all five starters on the offensive line plus two more 2012 starters who missed last year with injury. The offensive line has 133 career starts returning.

Indiana's defense was one of the worst in the country last year, allowing 39 points per game (No. 114) and 528 yards per game (No. 120). But the Hoosiers do welcome back 10 starters. Part of the reason for the struggles was the unit relying heavily on its younger players, as four of its top 11 tacklers were true freshmen. With another year under their belts, the Hoosiers should be improved on that side of the ball in 2014.
I'm still pissed at Mallory for ****ing up a golden bowl opportunity. If Brian Knorr is just competent as the defensive coordinator, then I fully expect us to bowl next year. Then again, this is IU football we are talking about.

Northwestern is in good hands love how that team defends. I wouldn't be surprised if their coach turns that program into something decent he is fabulous.

This is a weird year in the Big Ten. Michigan is good. Sparty is the best team in the league if they are healthy. Sloopy might kind of suck. Indiana certainly sucks. Purdue sucks. Iowa wants to be good, but they don't really know how just yet. Wisconsin isn't playing Wisconsin style basketball but they are where they usually are (top 4 in the B1G). The bottom feeders have closed the gap on the also-rans, which is why we are seeing the Northwesterns, Nebraskas, and Penn States of the world winning games they historically don't win.

I watch the Pacers lose, switch to the IU game, and an 11 point lead immediately shrinks to 4. Um...my bad?

If Tom Crean is still coaching the team, I'll explode my own heart.

So IU with its large recruiting budget and the Pacers with their NBA payroll can't find ONE consistent three point shooter between them?

I at least saw us score two points. That was over four minutes ago.

Tim Miles is a better coach than Tom Crean.

Nebraska has a better head coach than IU.

Pass the ball around the three point line for 28 seconds then create some garbage off the dribble and end up with a contested shot. 30% of the time, it works every time.

Nothing gets the other team's defense out of synch like running the weave at the three point line.
