Apparently they have adjusted some hand check rules in the college game and the result is a ton of fouls being called in these scrimmages that have been held. You know, if there was one thing we needed it was more foul calls. My lord I thought it was nearly unwatchable the past few seasons (last year wasn't quite as bad), if these refs get more involved my enjoyment of college basketball is going to drop precipitously.

Are you serious?? Have you watched the past few years? The amount of physicality on the perimeter makes college ball look like football at times. I am very happy with the changes people need to quit fouling. I think they need to go to a 24 second shot clock too. I am all for college going to NBA rules.

I'm with you on the 24 second shot clock, but officiating in college is already wildly inconsistent and more often than not, excruciating. I'm all about getting better officiating in general in college hoops, and while this rule is fine in theory, it's going to result in some unwatchable games, especially in the physical Big Ten.

I'm also in favor of this. Teams will be affected early on but will eventually just have to adjust. Players have been pushing the envelope on cheating defensively for years based on what will be called a foul and this is where it's gotten us. I hate hearing people call Aaron Craft a great defender. All he does is grab and smack.

Hope you enjoy a heavy dose of zone defenses. As IU fans we should be concerned, because Crean seemed pretty baffled by Cuse's zone in the Sweet 16 last year.

You beat a zone with rhythmic perimeter passing and wearing it down while attacking it middle to late in the shot clock . Fast breaks and quick shots just feed Cuse's zone especially with Syracuse's athleticism .

That is not true at all. Many different schools of though, and one of the most popular is don't let a zone get set. The way to beat a zone or any defense is by executing something IU failed to do. I mean the whole team was off that game outside of Vic. That happens from time to time and that is why winning the Tourney is so hard.

Different teams with vastly different personnel. Syracuse played its zone defense at another level last season.

Not just Cuse but IU's personal compared to Butler.

Anyone wanting to play a slow pace with Cody Zeller is insane. No big in the nation last year could run with him for 40mpg.

Regarding zones becoimg dominate with the run change. Most college teams already play a lot of zone. I believe there will be a shift from zone to hybrid zones just like the NBA uses. I personally like that type of defense. Man defense but baiting teams into bad shots by leaving the weakside open and sagging into the paint.

that Troy Williams looks like he will be one hell of a player for us. Along with Noah Vonleh, Yogi Ferrell, Fischer, Robinson, Hollowell etc. we got a lot of young players that should make IUBB a top 25 team for years to come, and I think we will be a lot better than what people think we will be this season. I honestly think we are the 2nd best team in the big ten, with the opportunity to be the best

Really disagree with that statement, but I love your enthusiasm so I'll go with it.

Indiana landed a 2014 recruit tonight, Max Hoetzel. He's a 6'7 wing shooter, supposedly a very under the radar guy. Opinion will naturally be split because we have only been recruiting him for like a month (seriously) and he's unranked as of now. I don't mind it. We need shooters.

I don't look too much into rankings. If Crean recruited him, that obviously means he thinks he can play, so hopefully Crean is right. Oladipo and Sheehey weren't ranked that high either

Yeah I don't put much stock into the rankings. I think Crean does a pretty good job of identifying kids that fit what he wants to do and the culture he wants to create around our basketball program.

The elephant in the room is Crean has missed on so many key guy's this year i can list of about 5 or 6 and then we go and get some no ranked kid? yeah i get it STAR RANKINGZZZ but there is still no denying crean has had a terrible year recruiting this year.

I'm not ready to call that yet. Although I still think he winds up at Kentucky, Blackmon is still in the mix and reportedly really enjoyed his visit this past weekend to IU. Devin Robinson is making his decision this week and Indiana is right in the thick of that race. We are back to recruiting JaQuan Lyle. All those guys are 5 star kids.

We already have a 4 star SG committed who I believe is ranked 44th on the ESPN100, I would love to get James Blackmon, or JaQuan Lyle. Too early to call it a failure

Based on how indecisive the local recruits have been, I'm thinking it has more to do with them and less to do with Crean. And this may surprise people, but 5 star prospects want to play right away. We're going to be so deep next season it may be hard for incoming freshmen to see the floor right away.

Part of the issue with recruiting this year is that no one from this team is going pro after one year, maybe Noah but he said he plans to come back. There isn't a lot of immediate playing time, whcih is important for pretty much every top 25 kid unless they're going to UK.

Is this a guess or just a rumor. Hmm I miss a certain Indiana sports message board that I used to go to. They sold out sadly. I am sure people know which one I am talking about.

I honestly hate all the Indiana messageboards. They are cesspools of insanity. But that's just a rumor, and from everything I've read it's 50/50 with the late chatter veering towards Indiana, but I still think he ends up at Kentucky, which will make aforementioned message boards even more intolerable.
