I would have laughed until I passed out if you told me 2 years ago we'd be 1-3 against Nebraska in our first four meetings with them.

Yogi and Sheehey what 3 of 19 from downtown?

Evan Gordon missing a wide-open 3 was a turning point for me.

Really like the future of some of these players. Really don't trust Crean with them, though.

[QUOTE=LuckSwagger;1797902]I know yesterday was only one game, so it's a small sample size, but it got me thinking: would IU really be in trouble next year if Vonleh doesn't come back?

We'll have elite shooters next year, which should lead to better spacing and more scoring. The freshmen become sophomores. Yogi will be a year older and a year wiser. Crean's offense really doesn't utilize the post and yesterday we put up 72 against a team that only gives up 59 and is in the top ten in the country in points allowed per game.

If Vonleh leaves, we can hopefully sign a post player in the spring or pick up a transfer. It wouldn't have to be the second coming of Cody Zeller, but someone who can guard the rim. We gave up a lot of layups and dunks yesterday and put OSU in the double-bonus by the 10 minute mark because the size mismatches forced us to foul."

i think they will likely be in big trouble without him. having some great shooters is nice but, who will pick up the rebounding slack? and while noah isn't leading the nation in blocked shots, i think the lack of rebounding and lack of defensive presence in the paint means team will pretty much do as they please on the inside.
we will have a roster with such an undersized group i think can only work if you got the '89' flyin' illini.
no vonleh next year i suspect will result in an even worse season than this year.
i could be wrong and hope i am but if vonleh goes- i think it could get seriously bad as i have pretty much zero faith in perea ever developing into a useful player as he has zero refined skills and is only an athlete.

Shame on Nebraska for going to a zone this game and not letting IU scramble and run on offense! Teams should know it isn't fair to zone IU since obviously playing against a zone is not something Crean understands or teaches.
Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

Our problem wasn't so much the zone. I mean I saw at least 5 instances where we just ran down the floor and chucked a 3 before there defense was even ready.

So, we're pretty much at the "next year" point with IUBB. Which isn't unexpected.

On the bright side, I'm really intrigued by the guard & wing potentials next year. I'm not gonna put too much stock in freshmen before they produce, but you'd think between the two SGs in particular, one will prove an effective option early. I really like the thought of a Yogi Ferrell who is confident but doesn't feel the need to play hero ball (that's when he makes the most mistakes). Yogi with passing options -- and he had too few this year -- is best.

PG, I'm not sure who earns minutes beyond Yogi, but he'll be getting Craft-type minutes anyway, so it won't matter. And I'm sold on Yogi. That position is fine.

SG, you have to figure improves immensely. I don't expect amazing production here, but even credible would be a striking upgrade.

SF, I think between Williams/Davis (if they go big at the 3, but maybe he's a 4 depending on roster)/Hollowell, at the very least, they'll have length and athleticism to operate in transition and play hounding defense. Not sure where the shooting comes from here, but maybe I'm just missing an obvious name or Hoetzel is better than I think. For the most part, though, I think this is primarily the "athelete/mid-range shooter/drive to the bucket" position. Also don't think it's unreasonable to think Williams can develop a long-range shot.

PF and C are worrisome, especially if Vonleh doesn't return. HMP had one really, really good game this year, but not enough to be even remotely sold on him. Beyond him, maybe Crean gets a last-minute commit from Clark or something, but it's hard to love many of the options here.

How old is Wade's oldest kid? That's our only hope of ever getting to a Final Four with Crean.

I won't post them here, because I consider them sacrilege, but IU is wearing some ****** alternate uniforms for the tourney. Including white ones that say "Hoosiers" on the front.

Depending on where we're seeded, we may not even get the chance to wear white.

Honestly, I don't hate them. They remind me a little too much of the women's uniforms though. I like having "Hoosiers" on the front of the home whites. I don't like our regular uniforms all that much, so I like the change of pace.
