We would have a solid tournament resume if we had just beat a couple of these sub-par teams we've lost to.

Yeah, but about 100 other teams could say the same thing. Right now, we really have no resume. We have one good win (vs Wisconsin), but even that one has been tainted due to the major slump the Badgers are mired in. This would be a big one, but there's still a long way to go, and we haven't had one of our patented scoring droughts yet.

Michigan is just so poised. Every time our crowd gets into it they just go down and score.

    Fire Crean already!!!

So who gets the credit Yogi or Crean for putting Yogi on Nik??

Great game plan I would have never tried Yogi on Nik.

This was a nice win but all it did was buy Crean time unfortunately. We're still sub .500 in conference with a tough remaining schedule although if we play like this at home the rest of the year no one will beat us.

At least we haven't thrown in the towel and show promise unlike that school to the north.

Crean gets credit for managing the substitutions well, and for sticking Yogi on Stauskas. Credit where credit is due.

Yogi gets the lion's share of the credit for the win. He was unconscious. One win does not exonerate the rest of Crean's asshattery.

Crean wins just enough to keep his job and avoid the hot seat. He did it at Marquette and he is doing it at IU.

Tournament isn't out of the realm of possibility now. Looking at our schedule think we have to win the next 3 to have a chance.

Michigan is now 5-35 in Assembly Hall. When you consider all the great duels between the two teams over the years that's pretty astounding.

    More startling figures:

IU leads the all-time series 104-56.

Tom Crean is 7-5 against John Beilein and has won 4 of 5 against him since the 2011-12 season- when Michigan has actually been good.

    Three of their wins came in a 4 year period: '85, '86, '88, '95 and '09.

In that one game they won IU blew a 20 point lead. Assembly Hall is a House of Horrors for Meatchicken.

Ugh, the Illinois, Nebraska, and Northwestern games all hurt so bad right now. If we flip those 3 the other way....man.

    team box o' chocolates.

You reach for one and you never know what you are going to get.

Against Northwestern it was a bitter sour orange cream filling with some crushed shells in the middle and I broke a tooth.

Yesterday it was caramel nougaty goodness with a hazelnut inside.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

Looks like it wasn't just Assembly Hall. They were 8-30 in Bloomington before it was built and are now 13-65 here all time.

It's almost like they lost 4 offensive starters and some ridiculous percentage of their scoring, with 2 players going to the NBA perhaps earlier than anticipated!

As an IU alum, I'm often embarrassed by IU fans.

I'm embarrassed by people with an opinion different than my own, too.

If we would have maxed out our opportunity with those two players who were top four NBA draft picks, then I'm sure that plenty of people would have been far more patient with Crean this season. But IU fans are coming off of a season in which they flamed out in the Sweet 16 with an absolutely stacked team. When you sprinkle on the inconsistencies that we've seen this season, it's pretty understandable that fans don't have much faith in the head coach. The proof is in the pudding. 5 years in and no further than the Sweet 16. Looks like that will extend to year 6 after this season.

Besides, elite programs are always losing stud players. That's the nature of college basketball. They just reload the next year and roll out another stud team. The sad reality is that IU basketball has been leapfrogged by a ton of programs over the last two decades as far as success and national relevance is concerned. IU basketball has become the 1992-2007 Celtics. We have the tradition and musty old banners, but the recent successes have been few and far between.

yeh, i am looking at the last iu title and i see things like duke has gone on to win it 4 times now, kentucky 3, uconn 3, unc 3, kansas 2, florida 2.
sure, there is a certain amount of luck and good fortune involved but several teams have leapfrogged past iu without question it seems some teams sure do have something close to a patent on luck.
but, i am of a position that i suspect iu's ceiling under crean is likely sweet 16 as sooner or later, he is likely to run into a coach who gets his team to shut down tom's one and only style of attack.
