Well he cleared waivers and that sucks. I wish just one really bad team would have bid one dollar for him. I can understand a young team not wanting the voice of veteran leadership coming from Artest. Now he'll change his story and want to play for the Knicks.

They interviewed him a few minutes ago in Vegas on NBATV. He said one of the options he considered was arena football. Seems like he's still a little unfocused.

What's wrong with that? I'm guessing Artest would have a great time playing football.

Even the bad teams would rather keep their dollar.

Plumlee reminds me of a young Dale Davis. Good rebounding and he contests shots well on defense and his offensive game is very raw just like DD's was coming out of college.

I don't think that it's a lack of "focus" from Artest.....it's more that....well, this is just the way he is. He's literally all over the place.

    Wow......I did not know this:

    https://twitter.com/vgoodwill

    • World Peace used the challenge of playing in Detroit as comparison to the challenge of playing in Madison Square for the Knicks - 1h
    • The #Pistons didn't have any cap space to sign World Peace, who signed with the Lakers for 5 yrs, $33 mil that summer. - 1h
    • World Peace, cont'd: "Joe Dumars told my agent I couldn’t have played in Detroit."
    • Metta to reporters: "I wanted to go to Detroit, that was my 1st option (in 2009). It would’ve been challenging to play in that building." - 1hr

No, he's literally in just one place. He's FIGURATIVELY all over the place.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

MWP said he would have signed w/ NYK for a dollar. "Give the rest to charity." Twitter @johnschuhmann
You gotta give it up to MWP when it comes to doing something like this.

Lol. My Knicks fan friend is so excited about this. I told him that will disappear soon enough. I don't see Ron staying focused on basketball in New York.

Metta signing with a team that's offense is built on jacking up 3s is good news.........for every team that plays against the Knicks

He still didn't deserve a chance to play for a playoff team.

Midway through October he'll probably take a week off to work as the Staten Island Ferry captain.

The sort of ironic thing about this entire Lakers summer is this.

Dwight Howard used to be universally beloved as a player and person with a pretty good reputation both on and off of the floor.

Ron Artest has been at best a controversial player with a sordid reputation both on and off of the floor.

Yet they both leave the Lakers and their reputations are now both about the same. In fact I will say with good confidence that in L.A. Ron has a much higher reputation now than Dwight does.

I just kind of find it ironic.

Well, he seemed to do OK in LA and there are plenty of distractions there. Out of every move we've made this summer, except for the draft, this is the one for us that makes sense. Signing a 12/5 guy who's still a pretty good defender for roughly the vet minimum?

The problem is that it makes the Bargnani trade, which had some marginal appeal at one point, look a little dumb. It might be a little tough to maintain a consistent style of play when your starter at SF is Ron Artest and Bargnani comes off the bench there. And having Amare, JR Smith and Bargnani on the floor together in the 2nd unit scares me.

And I thought our summer would be boring ...

Definitely. Kobe fired off some tweets which expressed disgust about Artest leaving. Kobe really seemed to straighten Artest out.

Just to add onto this a little bit more, Artest was a key player on a Lakers championship team. He hit a game-clinching three in Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics. Furthermore, his work ethic earned him the respect of one of the greatest players in NBA history. You can't ever take any of that away from him. He will always be thought highly of by the largest fan base in the NBA.

Good move. Nice little retool for the Knicks. Didn't think they would be able to do much of anything.
