3/36 is about what I thought as a fair deal for both sides. Great job. Sign Landry and call it a day. Adding Watson/Lance or Granger/Landry to the bench would be a huge upgrade.

Just proves what a great climate the FO, coaches, and players have created together. There was no BSing going on when the FO said he was priority #1 and West said this is my team. The marriage continues!!

He can't sign it for another week, no reason to get too hasty.
I don't think that's entirely accurate. The second the offer was made, he could sign it, and we'd be on the hook. It just wouldn't become official until 7/10.

Bird signed the offer sheet when he tendered him his QO, if Hansbrough puts his signature on there before it is rescinded, we are stuck.

Can someone tweet Agness and find out if it's just a straight $12 mil a year contract ( like it is for GH, Mahinmi and Green )?
He has said that as a team employee he can not comment on deals till the 10th.

I'm not positive, but I thought you can't sign the offer until the 10th? Only agree to the contract?

At $36mm, West's opening salary will be between $11.2 (backloaded) and $13.0 (frontloaded). Probably flat or frontloaded would be my guess.

3/36 is a fair deal to both parties. Of course, I was hoping for a bit less in order to help us financially in the 2014-2015 season.

So, let's hope that this deal is structured in a way that it doesn't hamper our abilityto re-sign Lance and PG in the next off-season.

All in all, great news. I'm happy for both the team and David

Do we know how much money we have left?

A QO offer for a team's RFA is different from a contract offer for an UFA. The QO is binding the second it is signed by both parties. The July 10th date for UFA's contracts to become finalized is not applicable.

Not a surprise at all and it's a fair contract for both sides.

Now we can cross priority #1 off the list for this offseason.

So, doesn't that mean that it will be:

    2013-2014 : $13 mil
    2014-2015 : $11.8 mil
    2015-2016 : $11.2 mil

AWESOME news! 3 years sounds perfect. Hopefully the $$ figure's around $12 or so.

    Now sign Landry
According to 1070AM that is exactly what it is. 3 years - $36M.

    I think it would have to be $13, $12, $11 but I'd guess $12, $12, $12 is more likely.

Frontloading is maybe the wise option, considering the need to pay PG and either Lance or Danny in 2014-2015.

That would make Landry an impossibility though. Backup PF a hodgepodge of Pendy/Plumdog/Solo/DannyG or a vet minimum guy, I'd think, unless we found a way to unload Green.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

In a 3 year contract, Year 2 will be the same in all three scenarios - front-loaded, back-loaded or flat. In West's case, $12mm.

He's 32 years old, he's only going to decline from this point.

I wish West could just take a 3 year 27 million contract. 9 million/year would be perfect so we can resign our other players next season.

He can still take a pay cut next year if needed correct?

I think 3/36 is completely fair. I think it's important to remember you're paying him for not only what he does during a game, but also what he brings to the locker room and the practice court. The win column, the locker room, and the younger players all benefit.

Im a huge West fan.. glad about the signing beleive we overpaid a little with his age, but he is extremly important to this team. I would have also been happy with letting him go and getting Milsap and getting younger. West is a BAMF.. ...now its time to work on the bench.
