Default RIP Bob Carter (or as he was better known to everyone in central Indiana Sammy Terry)

If you are 40 or above and you are from around here, you know who he is.

Classic stuff that wouldn't fly in today's TV world but back then it was a lot of fun and when you were little it was kind of scary.

Just saw the news a few minutes ago. A true Indiana broadcast pioneer.

Tonight he is probably haunting the boarded up relic that was WTTV-TV on the southside. And I mean that in the most respectful way possible. My older sister and I watched him every Friday night (once we were allowed to and before she started dating).

As my brother posted on Facebook, we used to go up on the roof and turn the antenna hopeful we could get channel 4 in the sticks of Vigo county. Oh the good old days!

You know how hippos are made out to be sweet and silly, like big cows, but are actually extremely dangerous and can kill you with stunning brutality? The Pacers are the NBA's hippos....Matt Moore CBS Sports....

I remember him but I don't remember getting to watch his show very often.

The story mentions that Cowboy Bob was the voice of George the spider. I watched a lot of Cowboy Bob.

I don't remember George having a voice??? I thought Sammy was just able to 'hear' George and told viewers what he said.....

Loved Sammy Terry! (Cowboy Bob, too). Sad to hear of his passing.

That's how I remember it. Seems like George made a "squeak" or something. But that was about it.

I remember him well! Scary show for kids, but I was 19 when he started so it wasn't THAT scary. Actually I thought he had an earlier show, that I thought was scarier, it had to be on sometime in the 1950's. I can't remember if it was on channel 4 or not.
I remember the whole family watching it though.

George's voice was muffled, kinda like Charlie Brown's teacher.

For those who don't know, Bob's son took up the mantle a little while back and does an admirable job.
