Almost all the mock drafts I've seen have Turiaf going late in the 1st round. Haven't seen any that have him in the lottery. There's a chance he may be available when the Pistons pick.

I think some NBA GMs are finally learning their lesson, and will start to draft college seniors, instead of HS prospects.

Oh, and add Julius Hodge to the list of college seniors that are playing their way into the lottery.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

Methinks, KStat is talking Turiaf up because he thinks that the Pistons will get him and then KStat will be all happy for having the best player to drop to the late first round.

All true, but if he goes top-3, ill eat my shoe.
Can you get a digital picture of said shoe and that way, when you are dining on that shoe, we can maybe all get together to watch it. Now, will you be eating the entire shoe or just part of the shoe?

And if a digital picture is not available, please let me know what type/size the shoe is including color so I can possibly get a picture from the manufacturer. Should we schedule a date for the Official KStat Andrew Bogut Going top 3 in the NBA Draft Shoe Eating Spectacle!

OK kstat - now I don't happen to think Bogut will go top-3 either, but I'm not Promise-to-eat-my-shoe confident.

So allow me to make a few suggestions:

    First, an educational video: http://www.lesblank.com/more/shoe.html

Then, some preparation advice from a couple of chefs: http://www.nydailynews.com/front/sto...7p-90014c.html

Martin Howard, pastry chef at Brasserie 8-1/2 on W. 57th St., came up with a confection called Tucker Carlson's Tiramishoe.

"I'd braise the shoes for a long time in some red wine and brandy and garnish them with a thickly sliced New York sirloin," said Waldy Malouf, chef and owner of Beacon on W. 56th St.

Tom Valenti of Ouest, at Broadway and 83rd St., suggested "deep-fried sole and lace linguine."

"You'd have to cook them to death," he said.

Or you could order some custom made shoes for the occasion: http://www.fiberartsmagazine.com/cur...arablefood.asp

I assume leather would be the preferred shoe type for consumption. Is he allowed to remove the glue and nails?

scouts love to lie/exaggerrate about potential lottery picks.

They pump up one guy, when they have their eyes on 1 or 2 others.

Pavel Podkolzine is a prime example.
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++

Detroit fans should be experts in that area, considering the Darko thingy.

Bogut is going easily top three and probably number one. Get that shoe ready.

Turiaf is a late first rounder and his play in the tournament did not help.

I want to see what happens with Garcia from Louisville. NBA draft net has him at 27 right now but after watching the first two games of the tournament, the man has game. I'm not nearly as much of a Chris Paul fan as they are - they have him going 2nd, Bogut 1st.

Sophomore big man led Utah to Sweet 16

    Associated Press

SALT LAKE CITY -- Andrew Bogut couldn't pass up the opportunity to be the top pick in the NBA draft.

The Utah center announced Monday that he would forgo his final two years of eligibility to enter the draft, confirming what his coach, teammates and Utes fans have known was coming.

"I have no regrets and full-speed ahead," the 7-footer from Australia said at a news conference Monday.

Bogut, the leading vote-getter on the AP All-America team, averaged 20.4 points and 12.2 rebounds while leading the Utes to a 29-6 season, which ended with a loss to Kentucky in the regional semifinals of the NCAA Tournament.

"I feel the time is right to move on to the next level of basketball," Bogut said.

Bogut has hired agent David Bauman of SFX Basketball, making him ineligible to play again in college. Bogut plans to stick around Salt Lake City for a few weeks, then head to Washington, D.C., to begin preparing for pre-draft workouts.

Bogut's parents, Anne and Michael Bogut, sat in the front row for their son's news conference. Michael Bogut ran an auto shop when Andrew was growing up and the younger Bogut remembered some lean times for the family. As a top NBA pick, Bogut's family should be comfortable for a long time.

Bogut considered leaving after last season, when he was the Mountain West Conference freshman of the year, but a visit to Australia from new Utah coach Ray Giacoletti convinced Bogut to put off the NBA at least another year.

Bogut is expected to be -- at the very least -- a lottery pick and possibly the first player chosen overall. He led Utah in scoring and rebounding and is an exceptional ball handler and passer for a big man.

"There hasn't been one day when he hasn't been our hardest worker," Giacoletti said. "It's all been about the team and that's very rare this day."

Bogut is the second Utah sports star to choose an early departure this year. Quarterback Alex Smith, a Heisman trophy finalist last season, announced in January he would skip his senior season for the NFL. Smith is also projected to go early and it's possible the No. 1 pick in both drafts could be Utes.

Bogut recorded double-doubles in all but nine games this season and finished with at least 10 points and 10 rebounds 40 times in his Utah career. And at just 20 years old, NBA scouts -- fixtures at Utah games this season -- are convinced he can only get better.

Bogut was a starter on Australia's Olympic team last summer and averaged 14.8 points and 8.8 rebounds.

Bogut knew before the season started that leaving would be a possibility, but it wasn't until midway through it that he was leaning toward the draft. And he didn't want to talk about it until the Utes' run in the NCAA Tournament was over.

"I didn't want to do anything to take the limelight away from the team. It's just not fair," Bogut said.

Former Utah coach Rick Majerus, who resigned midway through last season because of health concerns, pulled off one of his best recruiting achievements when he got Bogut to sign with Utah. Bogut was scheduled to join the Utes midway through the 2002-03 season, but had trouble getting cleared by the NCAA.

Bogut could have gone pro right away in Europe or signed with another school because his commitment to Utah expired during the delay, but kept his word and arrived in Salt Lake City in 2003.

Without Bogut, it will be difficult for the Utes to top this season, but Giacoletti said he wasn't even going to try to talk him in to coming back again if leaving for the draft was best for Bogut and his family.

"We had a special year. This is not a sad day," Giacoletti said. "This should be a happy day, a joyous day. Andrew has done everything he can do at the college level."

Australian Olympian Andrew Bogut was named The Associated Press US college basketball player of the year. The award caps a superb second and final season with the University of Utah college with Bogut last week announcing he will go into the NBA Draft this year. Bogut led the College league with 26 double-doubles in 35 games this season. He was second in rebounding at 12.2 per game, and fourth in field goal percentage at 62 per cent. He averaged 20.4 points per game (15th in the US) and 2.3 assists while playing 35 minutes. He was the leading vote-getter on the AP's All-America first team.

The Utes finished with a record of 29-6, won the Mountain West Conference regular season title, and advanced to the third round of the US college championship before losing to Kentucky. "He is one of the special, special people I have ever met," first-year Utah coach Ray Giacoletti said. Bogut announced this week that he would forego his final two seasons at Utah and apply for the NBA draft. He's expected to be one of the top picks in June, and he knows the work has just begun. "I have to get ready, get stronger for the physical play that I'll see there," Bogut said. "I don't have any plan, like being an all-star in three years or anything like that. I know I want to get better and I'll show people how hungry I am for that."

The 20-year-old Bogut averaged 14.8 points and 8.8 rebounds last summer in Athens for the Australian Olympic team. Just four years earlier he was cut from his state team in Victoria. "He got really angry when he was cut," his father, Michael Bogut, said. "He said, 'Dad, this is the last time I'm last. Whatever it takes." Bogut received 31 votes for player of the year from AP's 72-member national media panel. Bogut is the first player from Utah to win the award. -

    Bogut wins Wooden Award
    From correspondents in Los Angeles
    April 10, 2005

UNIVERSITY of Utah centre Andrew Bogut has become the first non-American to be named the 2005 winner of the John R. Wooden Award overnight.

The award was presented to the 2.13m tall Australian at the 29th Annual Wooden Award Ceremony in Los Angeles.

The Wooden Award is given to the most outstanding collegiate basketball player in the United States.

In addition to on-court performance, voters are supposed to base their selections on each candidate's character and academic performance, essential components of an outstanding player in the eyes of John Wooden, the legendary hoops coach at UCLA and the Award's namesake.

Bogut, a junior who announced his intention to enter the NBA Draft a few weeks ago, led the Mountain West Conference in points (20.4) and rebounds (12.2) while guiding Utah to the Sweet 16.

Bogut, a starter for Australia's 2004 Olympic team, earlier took home the Naismith Trophy, which also honours the nation's best player.

The other finalists were centres Sean May of North Carolina and Wayne Simien of Kansas and guards Dee Brown of Illinois and J.J. Redick of Duke.

May scored 26 points in the title game of the NCAA Tournament to lead the Tar Heels to a 75-70 victory over Illinois.

Previous winners include Larry Bird (1979), Michael Jordan (1984), Tim Duncan (1997), and last year's recipient, Jameer Nelson (2004).

LSU's Seimone Augustus was this year's Wooden Award winner for the women. Augustus, a junior guard, led the Tigers to a second consecutive Final Four appearance, where they lost to Baylor in the semi-finals.

Augustus averaged 20.1 points and 4.5 rebounds to lead LSU to a 33-3 season. She was also the conference player of the year and the Naismith Trophy winner.
    that calls for some more
