Default Andrew Bogut next #1 draft pick?

    clicky

Almost any NBA talent evaluator not in Salt Lake City Monday night to watch Utah's 69-55 victory over LSU either watched it via satellite or perused a replay of the contest. And nothing they saw of 6-foot-10, 240-pound sophomore Andrew Bogut, who went for 24 points and 17 rebounds in over 40 minutes for the Utes, hampered the growing belief among draft decision makers that he is by far the leading candidate to be selected first overall in the next NBA draft in June. "And I can't even tell you there is a close No. 2 is right now,'' a Western Conference player personnel director said Thursday. Wake Forest sophomore point guard Chris Paul would seem the obvious candidate but the sentiment among most NBA scouting types is that Paul could be back in college for his junior season.
whoa, that would be so cool if an Australian went for #1. I knew he was good and should definately get drafted mid 1st round, but #1 would be awesome.

hypothetically if ron and tins got traded for baron davis, and then the hornets get the 1st pick 3 of my fave players could be in NO. i really hope the pacers dont trade ron tho, but that'd be cool in some other dimension :P

but it would also be good for australian basketball in general if an aussie got the number 1.

scouts love to lie/exaggerrate about potential lottery picks.

They pump up one guy, when they have their eyes on 1 or 2 others.

Pavel Podkolzine is a prime example.

Has he even played at all for Dallas?

Did you see/remember the Australia v US match at the Olympics? Bogut as a 19yo was Australia's best player (throughout the tournament) and held his own against Tim Duncan and some of the worlds best. 6'10 240 that can handle the ball, shoot the 3, a rapidly expanding inside game and great bball IQ.

Bogues is lottery material no doubt, in fact i'd be surprised if he slipped out of the top 10 however i very, very much doubt he will go first overall. Actually to perk the interest of people on this board he has been regarded as brad miller esque. However i tend to believe more in the vlade divac comparissons.

His hands, shooting ability, ball handling and passing make him a rare breed of big man. Especially when you consider he is most potent with his back to the basket and some reports suggest he is closer to 7" than 6-10

Well, I think it depends on who gets the pick (which means nobody's slam dunk.) However, my (non-existent) money would be on Paul.

The #1 pick will be Martynas Andriuskevicius. 7'3" Lithuanian who's been working with Arvydas Sabonis for seveal years.

I think anyone who passes on Paul, assuming he's going to be in the draft, will be kicking themselves for years to come.

When is Greg Oden coming out?

Just because you're offended, doesn't mean you're right. ― Ricky Gervais.

What if someone from a school of business or management school were to ask, How did you do this? How did you get the Pacers turned around? Is there a general approach you've taken that can be summarized?

    Larry Bird: Yeah, patience.

Yeah but they're protected like mad through 2010. I think this year's is like top 25 protected (or maybe next year's).

Besides - we didn't have a 1st rd pick last year so we have to have one this year.

    Not true.

BTW Rimfire, Larry Brown said he was "not flattered" with rumors linking his name with the Knicks next year. He said he loved Isiah, but he hasn't said anythign favorable about the Knicks roster in 4 or 5 years.

    Just FYI.

Speaking of siggy...I saw him AIRBALL a layup last night.....he was standing underneath the basket with about 3 minutes left, and marbury spoon-fed him the ball, but Brewer put up the ugliest 2-hand push shot you'll ever see.......the ball went about 3 feet past the rim.......if it wasnt so sad I'd have been laughing....

Awww - that's just smoke. We all know that Larry loves to yell and Larry loves a challenge. We're one helluva challenge and there would be a whole lot to yell about.

    exactly.

however, now that last year's draft has come and gone, you can now trade this year's pick, so long as you have one next year.

I think we already traded this year's pick - sort of - but it's heavily protected.
