    Default Pacers and Pelicans

Pacers trade: Danny Granger, Gerald Green, #23 pick
Pacers get: Eric Gordon, #6 pick

Why for Pacers? Shed Green's contract while receiving our potential starting SG next to Paul George and the 6th pick to use on a potential 6th man such as CJ McCollum.

Pelicans trade: Eric Gordon, #6 pick
Pelicans get: Danny Granger, Gerald Green, #23 pick

Pelicans shed Gordon's contract while receiving a proven scorer and veteran in Granger who also has a valuable expiring contract.

The price of shedding Gordon's contract is the #6 pick.
The price of shedding Green's contract is Granger.

Only makes sense is if the Pelicans think Gordon is a lost cause and isnt worth his contract. The Pacers have or will have brought in CJ McCollum for a workout so a potential trade partner would seem like the Pelicans because McCollum is projected to go 5-10.

I (roughly) did the math and the Pacers salary comes out to $74,399,106 after a PG max and Lance extention at $5 mil and signing West at $10 mil and #6 pick's contract.

So the only way this would happen would be if Simon would be willing to pay the LT for a contending team.

    But will Gordon be healthy?

How you gonna pay PG the next year? You'd have to probably trade Hill at some point.
With the #3 pick in the 2015 draft, your Indiana Pacers!

when you are rebuilding you dont trade top 10 picks for cap relief especially if your team is located in NOLA.

If i am NOLA I keep Gordon try to get him healthy. He expires in time for it to not affect the rebuild. Plus if he stays healthy for a few years they could keep him or trade him for value. Selling low on Eric would be stupid especially when they will be tanking again next year.

I would do it for the Pacers (assuming Simon picks up the bill ).

But unless he's causing some major chemistry issues, the Pelicans will probably hold onto him and look if he can get healthy. It's only 3 years.
Even if they wanted to get rid of him ASAP, they could probably do better. If the Hawks managed to get a 1st round pick out of Joe Johnson's even worse contract, someone would likely do something similar and take Gordon. Maybe the same Nets even, it would make sense for them to trade a few picks and Humphries for Gordon if they are really willing to spend.

I doubt Simon would pay the LT..and I highly doubt that Gordon ever is fully healthy for a whole season...I pass.

If I'm the Pelicans I say no way, but if I'm the Pacers I'd do it if They decide not to resign West and draft Bennett or Zeller at #6. It's definitely a step back to maybe take 2 big steps forward in 2 years or so.

Why would the Pelicans do this? They gain nothing

I don't think Pelicans think Gordon is a lost cause, so that ends that for me.
