Microsoft showed off twice as many exclusives at E3 than Sony did. That statement is subjective.
And according to the Wikipedia Games List,
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_One_games
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...tation_4_games

Sony has 10 more games that are at least console exclusive. If you take out titles that are only console exclusive (IE, they will be coming to the PC as well), then yes Microsoft does take the lead, although I'm not sure of the appeal of Unnamed Disney Channel game....

Digital books for a few dollars and digital music for $1.25 is a gigantic difference from a digital game they are going to expect you to pay $60 for.

The only difference is the scope of the product. they're all digital transactions.

I do think it ought to be cheaper if it's digital, though. Not by much, but maybe at least five dollars or so.

I know they still have to pay for bandwidth, but they don't have to pay for the case or the production of the disc or the shipment of the game.

Yeah they're all digital transactions but price isn't the only difference. If price was the only difference, nobody would have said anything. People understand the cost of doing buisness. What they take exception to is being told how you can use something that you paid for, especially when it's $60 a pop. The books and music are cheaper obviously, but they are also portable, you can easily make physical copies of them if you want, and you can let your friends borrow those physical copies. If price was the only difference, customer feedback wouldn't have been so negative, and M$ wouldn't have changed anything.

No...price is pretty much the only difference. Look what steam does. Most console gamers don't play PC games, so they don't understand that when a company values a digital product at $60 a pop, there either going to be DRM or a lot of piracy.

Ironically, I think if Microsoft had followed the Steam platform system (especially with the offline mode capability that Steam has), I don't know that there would have been the criticism they had. Heck, outsource the digital platform side to Valve for development, and there is very little criticism, if any at all.

One of the things I thought this last gen dropped the ball on was the Steam for PS3 component that was included with Portal 2, where users who bought the PS3 version also got a license for the PC and Mac sides at no additional charge. The idea is sound, unfortunately, that was the only title that used it.
