I'm not surprised here. Gerald Wallace is a good Starter....but he won't help in the rebuilding process as he's owed a $30 mil / 3 year contract. I'd assume that the Celtics are going to insist that the Nets take on the contracts of Jason Terry, Courtney Lee or Brandon Bass.....which I would bet would be the sticking point.

Do the Nets even have any future draft picks? I thought that when the Nets received Deron Williams...a whole bunch of them were sent to the Jazz

Is Boston aiming to be the first entrant in the tank for Wiggins sweepstakes?

That would be an amazing trade for Boston. KG and Pierce deserve to go to a contender while the team tanks for Wiggins this year. On top of that, they're getting Tornike Shengelia (I am a big fan of Toko) and 3 first round picks. Great stuff.

They would have a solid Starting 5 lineup....then add in solid role Players like Reggie Evans...and ( I assume ) CJ Watson ( who I can see re-signing on the cheap for a chance to play with this stacked lineup ). They can probably add a few more vet minimum role Players for cheap.

Uh, yeah. That's what everyone was saying about the Lakers at the start of the season. How did that work for them ??

There is also a chance they get a low seed and struggle if two of the five starters get injured for an extended time.

Deron Williams is such a yo-yo that I'm honestly not sure I can trust any team where he is the primary guy.

Yeah, I think this would be win-win if it means the Nets have 1-2 years of being major contenders. It's an 'all in' kind of move because once it's over or if it doesn't work, they're back to rebuilding, but considering how soulless they looked to me in the playoffs this season, I think it's a gamble worth considering.

Pierce and Garnett wouldn't have to do much heavy lifting with Williams, Johnson, and Lopez playing with them, and that is a very tough starting five that will give us a serious run for our money for at least one year. Assuming it doesn't flop the way the 2012 Lakers flopped, which it might.

For Boston, when your best guys are getting this close to the end, there's not a ton you can expect to get back for either of them in a trade, so if you can spin them into short contracts and 1st round picks, I think you do it. Especially now with Doc gone and Rondo recovering from an ACL tear.

They don't deserve anything like that. They deserve to play out their contracts ( or retire ) regardless of where Ainge wants to send them while not pouting about it to the point where Ainge has no choice but to send them to a Team that would make them happy.

Pierce is going to be 36.
    KG is 37.
Joe Johnson is not the player he used to be either.
Lopez just had his THIRD foot surgery.

This would make the Nets a concern, for the short term, and even then I think it's an opponent we could deal with.

I don't understand the reactions here. The Nets financing the future on some old guys and throwing in a coach that's never coached a game.

I just don't see it working. The Russian dude is drinking too much vodka if this happens.

As a Starter.....I don't think that his contract is that bad ( $10+ mil a year for 3 seasons ). But yes, you are right..... Gerald Wallace's long-term contract is bad for a rebuilding Team like the Celtics.

My guess is that Ainge just flips him to some other Team once he's eligible to do. Crash is a halfway solid trading asset that some Teams may be interested in acquiring. But if Ainge continues to try to tack on the contracts of Terry Bass and Lee as part of the price tag to get him....yeah...his value goes down.

I don't think that KG and Pierce are pouting or anything. The team is blown up at this point. Allen left, Doc left. There is no reason for Boston to keep paying them. A sign of goodwill for the years that they played there is to send them to a contender and get some good prospects in return.

Granted, I'd prefer it if they sent them to the Western Conference.

With a healthy Granger, Lance at 6th man, and maybe one other good bench contributor next year, I beg to differ.

KG and Pierce couldn't beat a Knicks team that we would have beat in 5 this year without the Hill injury. And we still beat that team in 6 WITHOUT Granger. Hibbert is better than Brook Lopez, and Deron Williams is one of those "I'm good but not championship winning caliber" type really good players.

Wallace is on contract through the 15/16 season. Why would a rebuilding team want to take back the longest contract in the deal?
