    Default Pacers / Toronto

    Pacers move George Hill

Pacers receive Amir Johnson & Quincy Acy.

Why: Frees up cap space for the future. Amir Johnson replaces Tyler. We let Hans walk. Acy is a throw in but is young/banger and can develop. Pacers look to sign a facilitator or draft a PG @23.

Raptors- Win now mode. They already have Rudy Gay; DeRozen and Barginia w/ no first round draft pick. George Hill give them a Point that will fit their style of play.

Clearing a bad contract will lead to greener pastures when Granger's deal is off the books. Organization needs George Hill off the books to get a ring. He is not a starting PG on a championship team. I believe Lance is better and PG24 is getting a max deal.

What is so awful about Amir Johnson providing bench toughness and his contract is non-guaranteed after next season? He is a better defender than Tyler and would compliment Ian. It will be interesting to see what Lance makes after next season. I see his contract around 6-10 million if he has a good season next year.

why is it awful? Because we are in win now mode, and this is not a winning move, and who cares if Hill can be a PG on a winning team, if you haven't noticed the Pacers are going to have Paul George become their LeBron James esque player and have him run the offense, and whether or not you like Hill (everyone knows you hate him) he is a PG on a championship team, he was our starting PG and we took Miami to 7 games minus Danny Granger, he is good enough to win a title as our PG

I'd be all for bringing in Amir Johnson somehow.

But sure as hell not for Hill.

I think Hill is one of the 10 worst contracts in the NBA. The length and amount are too much for the Pacers Organization.

I think we overpaid for Hill but that is not accurate in any way whatsoever.

He's not even the worst contract on the Pacers.

You must not be familiar with a lot of contracts in the NBA.

4 years and 32 million for George Hill is a terrible nba contract. George Hill can not stay in front of quicker guards. He needs work on ball movement and has zero post game. The reason he needs a post game is to make the smaller and quicker guards in the Central Division guard him. Gerald Green is due 1 million less in the next 2 years than Hill makes in a single season.

This deal does not 'blow up' the team. With the non guaranteed contract of Amir Johnson it is easier to move Gerald Green or Ian Mahinimi in a package deal.

After watching K Leonard of the Spurs play last night I am not so sure that deal will not go down worse than Murphy/MDJ for S Jackson/Harrington on Larry Bird's resume.

I'm still trying to get over the shock that Toronto who won 34 games last year is in win now mode and yet we who were 48 minutes from the NBA finals this year should trade our starting PG who just got invited to a team USA mini camp for more "flexibility" basically.

Not to mention we saw what can happen to this team when Hill is either out (Game 5 against NYK) or in foul trouble (Game 5 against MIA).

Also, I just realized, who the hell is even supposed to start at point guard for us in this scenario?

Toronto acquired Rudy Gay @ the trading deadline. Raptors gave up a lot for him. They are in a win now mode. As far as our starting PG goes without Hill that is the great thing about 'flexibility' Pacers have the ability to acquire or draft a Point. The Pacers are not bogged down by this Hill contract.

As far as Hill's contract I will put Stoudmire (New York Knicks) Iylasove (Bucks) ahead of him for sure.
I don't know if you can put Bosh / Wade deals in the mix because the Heat won a ring last year and still have a chance of winning another this year.

You are welcome to hate on my trade idea all you guys like. Just understand my logic. I believe Hill's contract is too long and the Pacers would be better off trying to move him to add their roster. I would like a better defending point guard who is more of a floor general while this deal does not bring in that Point he provides the flexibility in order to do so.

He is probably the 15th highest paid PG in the NBA. How on earth anyone can think that is overpaid is beyond me. Not to mention that ranking probably going to go down in the future as its flat for 4 years.

    Beat me to the punch.

I'm not in love with Hill as the PG, but the Pacers don't even have b/u PG let alone a starting PG by trading Hill in this draft scenario.

Hill at 8 mil is higher than what I felt should have been paid, so it will be interesting to see what Redick gets from the view that numerous posters wanted to trade for him then re-sign him this off season. He's not a PG but then Hill isn't a true PG either.

He's overpaid by like one or two mil at the most. It's not like a boozer, Ben Gordon, amare, Asik type contract. Those contracts are horrible. George Hill is around the 15-18 range in top PGs of the league. Compare his contract to other PGs and he's not overpaid really. It's not near as bad ur making it out to be.

Plus, George is from Indy and the fans love him. He's a real positive in the community. This trade is pathetic. No thanks.

The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

    Asik's contract is awesome.
