well, looks like they will move Gordon, wasn't there a report that they wanted to move him? i wonder what they can get back for him
It will be easier to move GV and simply dump Lopez than it will be to move EJs unmoveable contract.

Doesn't it help the Pacers cap wise if they sign the bench players they want before re-signing West?
I don't think it matters either way because he still counts as a cap hold. So we're already over the cap and can only use the MLE and BAE, which is what we could use even if he had been signed already.

no, it doesn't matter like it did last year. we're over the cap to begin, last year Hill and Roy were coming off their rookie deals so they were getting big raises so them waiting let us use our cap space (badly) first then use our Bird rights to sign them.

Joe Johnson got traded last year, nothing's unmovable anymore. Hell, call Billy King, he'll take him.

True.....but I'm not holding my breath on the Pelicans getting any real talent in return for EJ if he's looking to simply dump him.

    Smart Move = Dump EJ
Easier Move = Dump Vasquez while letting Robin go

IMHO...his contract is toxic...toxic to the point where I don't see them getting any real good offers that wouldn't trump whatever they can get for Vasquez.

Question to all, I thought that in the new CBA....there was some rule that was put in place to discourage a S&T ( much like what we saw with what the Nuggets/Knicks did with Melo )...thus preventing FA from pushing their way to another Team while getting a full MAX Level contract.

    Is that correct?

    or

Is there some modification to those rules to allow it?

if a team's 4+ million in the luxury tax they can't receive a player in a sign and trade

Calling Gordon's contract toxic is a bit steep. Perhaps in NOLA, where he clearly stated he did not want to be beforehand.

    Jrue
    Gordon
    Reke
    Davis
    Lopez

That is a great defensive team. Reke has had his struggles on offense, but this type of lineup would compliment him IMO. His best strength is his defense Gordon Jrue and Reke would be a great defensive rotation add in Davis protecting the rim lots of potential. Not to mention that the core is all around 24.

Plus you have super sub Austin Rivers as your sixth man. Green.

I don't think it's fair to Tyreke to say he really struggles offensively. He put up 15PPG in 31 minutes this year on 48% shooting. Put this into perspective, bot of these players are 23 years old:

    Tyreke Evans --

    31MPG, 11.8 FGA, 15.2 PPG, 48% shooting ... 3.5 APG, 2.0 TPG

    Player B --

    38MPG, 14.9 FGA, 17.4 PPG, 42% shooting ... 4.1 APG, 2.9 TPG

Tyreke plays for the worst ran organization in the league. Tyreke has almost no one around him except a headcase. Player B plays for one of the best ran organizations in the league and plays with two of the better big men in the league. Obviously, player B is Paul George. Yet, George is considered to be one of the best up-and-coming starts in the league and this board acts like Tyreke is some inefficient guy running around like a turkey with his head cut off. Sure, Tyreke has one more year in the league, but compare organizations and talent around them. Tyreke's upside is incredible.

I'm starting to think that Vasquez is fools' gold... just like DC, he got ridiculous assist numbers in the Hornets' system (or by playing in front of their statisticians -- no accountability for them) but didn't really produce anywhere else. The Pelicans' targeting of Holiday and Reke seems to confirm this.

I read on www.hoopshype.com yesterday that it was rumored Tyreke had no interest w any team that planned to use him primarily as a SF...

I also read that him going to NOP could be via sign and trade... It don't believe it said for whom though... My guess would be Gordon?

Edit: Just saw the discussion about the s&t...

There's two things. One is the one Heisenberg stated.

The other one is that you can no longer get the full max in a sign and trade. For example, Dwight Howard can make 5 years, 119 million from the Lakers. The Rockets can only offer him 4 years, 88 million. If Howard ends up going in a sign and trade to another team, the most he can make is what other teams can offer him...4 years, 88 million. It used to be that he could take the extra year and more money that the Lakers could offer him to another team in a sign and trade deal (somewhat similar to the contracts LeBron and Bosh got without the money they gave back), but not anymore. The only advantage now for Howard to do a sign and trade is that he can get traded to a team that doesn't have the cap space to absorb his entire contract. He gets no advantages with money or years by doing a sign and trade.

The extend and trades like happened with Melo have also been changed, but those are a little bit different of rules and are a rather rare situation to begin with.

Not really sure why the Queens would want Gordon when they just drafted McLemore. And wouldn't they just rather keep Tyreke? At least he's been healthy.

I have always though that about him and I watch a ton of Hornets games. He did play better last year but I still think he is overrated, I mean he is a solid player, but his numbers in no way reflect how good he is IMO. His defense is really bad and his offense is a bit inflated he is still a good player, but IMO he is not a starting quality pg in the league.

I believe that, but I also believe that he'd rather sign with a team for big money and figure it out than not sign with a team ready to throw huge money at him because of how they want to use him.

And by "figure it out," I could mean "put up a stink about it until the team folds or trades him."

To tell you the truth I am surprised we have heard nothing about West
I'ld say we are working the outside possibilities first because we know David's a lock... You've got to get in the ears of your outside shots first when the moritorium is lifted... First cracks often get the guy they want...

I wouldn't want a player that didn't want to play on my team... Of course Gordon could be against going there too?

There's still the possibility Gordon gets moved for a SF afterward?

I'm not trying to be Nostradamus here... Just my speculation...

This should be good for the rivalry. More so if Hansbrough sticks around.
