You must really hate your own roster. A large contract given to a player with obvious flaws, and a streak-shooting SF that excels in defense and rebounding? When do the picket signs go up?
Please stop trying to compare Josh Smith to Roy Hibbert or Paul George, neither makes sense on any level.

Your guards are awful. First of all, you don't even have a two guard with any experience. You just play a bunch of bad point guards together. Your one good guard is leaving. Will Bynum literally cannot shoot, and Knight/Stuckey think they can much like Smith, but are bad chuckers that shoot 40%. Ditto Singler. This is bad. Bynum is pretty good at getting inside, but when you have Drummond/Smith/Monroe down there that will be taken away. No one on this team can shoot at all, seriously.

...did I mention Brandon Knight shot a better percentage from 3 than anyone in your starting lineup last season?

that is awesome. Thank you for this, truly. I mean, I would have thanked you anyway, but this was the dessert.

Honest question: Do you think the Pistons are a playoff team next year?

Maybe Charlie V. and Ben Gordon can come celebrate with Josh Smith once Detroit signs him.

Oh, i know George is. Hibbert? Similar playing field. Highly-paid player with obvious flaws. Doesn't change the fact his exact reasons for not liking smith applies to both of them.

you're going to ask me now when I have no idea what our roster will be in a month?

If we get Smith and another good player? Yeah, I'd put money on it. We'd absolutely belong there talent-wise. But that's a really big "if."

Well IMO, I wouldn't say Hibbert is a much better player. But I do believe he is a better player, Hibbert brings so much defensively, he is a leader in the locker room, and his offensive game develops every year, I think he is better than Smith

Hibbert's work ethic alone makes him much more valuable than Smith. Roy and Smith are exact opposites in this way.

if you want to talk intangibles, maybe. But this offseason isn't a whole lot different than last where everyone's lasting memory was hibbert terrorizing miami's midget frontline.

I'm not saying he isn't a very good player. in terms of raw talent and effect on a game, I think they're about even.

While Josh Smith is not a shooter at all, his career fg% and fg% last year was .465. Not bad by a long shot. This tells me the stories about his stupidity and terrible shot selection have been greatly exaggerated.
You realize this is subpar for a PF, which is what Josh Smith is. People think he can play the 3 because he chucks up bad shots from the perimeter and he has some defensive versatility. But he cannot, not effectively.

His career TS% is 51.6% - which is terrible. Gerald Green's is 51.3% - Is Gerald Green a good, efficient scorer? No.

His career offensive rating is 101, so is Sam Young's. Is Sam Young a good offensive player? No.

In terms of raw talent, Smith is much better than Roy. In terms of effect on a game, Roy is much better than Smith. Smith drove Hawks fans crazy.

I think a lot of that hard to do with him playing full time PF next to a PF trying to play center.

Again, if we didn't already have both Monroe and Drummond, I would not be in favor of this move at all. His style of play fits with our two best players.

not to change the subject, but did anyone else notice that Pendergraph didn't get a QO?

Let's not confuse athleticism with talent. Roy is significantly more skilled and has a significantly higher BBIQ. Roy is more talented and has a waaaaaaaaay more positive impact on the game. While Roy is arguably the best defensive player in he league and an underrated offensive contributor, Smith is a bad offensive player and a very good defender, but one inflated by supposed star status and weakside shot blocking.

That's the thing though: When he played on the wing more he was more prone to jacking up crappy contested jumpers. I'm just saying, if the situation was reversed I would be horrified at the prospect of overpaying Josh Smith to play on my team.

He has little trade/market value. You wouldn't have same options available as there is with Tyler.

There is still a good chance we can bring him back for a cheaper price.

I don't really care if he takes a few bad shots a game. He wouldn't be our #1 offensive option. He might not even be our #2.

I'll gladly trade that for what he brings on the other end of the floor.

Bird's press conference. Well, Solo's press conference. Bird was asked about QO for jeff and tyler. He said Hansbrough got one. That implies Jeff didn't.
