    Screw it, this goes here

Awesome scene. I hate the Yankees, but Rivera is a class act and that was an incredible exit.

I thought the scene w/ the Tigers winning the divison title w/ Jim Leyland interviewed was one of the most real moments I've seen in quite a while. If I had to pick 1 coach based on emotion, caring, being out there, taking the X's and O's out of it, I'd take Jim Leyland. He's a damn good baseball coach too, I find lots of similarities w/ Vogel and him obviously besides the age difference.

As an old-schooler....I can see Larry seeing this as a distraction without realizing how much of a Marketing tool it can be to promote a Small Market Team that is actually good.

I hate the decision...cuz seriously...I want to see the inner workings of the Team and what happens from day to day.

We are #2, it's been awhile since we have been so high.

I'm super high on Indy and for once it has nothing to do with thoughts of the inimitable shrimp cocktail at St. Elmo's. Sprinkle in Danny Granger, Luis Scola from an upgraded bench with the freshly maxed-out Paul George and playoffs Roy Hibbert and you've got a legit title-contending mix.

Dunno if this has already been established, but while I was watching the second part of Pacers Media Day, I saw PG in the back posing with his jersey on while messing around with a basketball...and alas, he still had #24 on. Say no more to PG-13!

Was the jersey last years style, or has there been any change to it?

It looked the same to me. I didn't notice any difference. They had their white home jerseys on. However, they did try these during the Summer League... http://ftw.usatoday.com/2013/07/indi...eeved-jerseys/ ... so maybe the only new additions this year to the jerseys will be them trying out the short sleeves at some point...

not to take glee in someone's injury or anything, but Budinger going down helps Robbie Hummel's chances of making the Wolves

Has FSI released a schedule of the games they're covering? Would be interested to know if next weeks game will be televised or if any preseason games will be...
"We've got to be very clear about this. We don't want our players hanging around with murderers," said Larry Bird, Pacers president.

No. I think normally we'd know by now, wouldn't we? I asked Chris Denari about it on Twitter like a week or two ago and I thought his response was that we'd know soon.

I think we typically do know by now. (Especially with preseason starting in one week) I haven't seen anything regarding it so far.

Detroit's Greg Monroe would also look to be in line for an extension, having established himself as one of the good young big men in the East. He was top 10 last season in double-doubles (37) and was one of the few bright spots for the Pistons the last two seasons.

But league sources indicate an extension for Monroe is highly unlikely. The Pistons are not going to give him anywhere near the max, based on their current roster. Plus, Monroe's agent, David Falk, has little interest in signing an extension for less than that. While discussions are friendly, it's likely the two sides will revisit next summer -- if Monroe is still on the roster.

With Andre Drummond looking like the Pistons' center of the future, and with $56 million invested in Josh Smith -- much more effective as a four -- how much will Detroit put forth for Monroe?

Pistons unlikely to extend Monroe during the season or offer him the max. I am tremendously hopeful that the Mavs throw him a 4-year max contract.

That would be great if the Mavs can get him to pair up with Dirk. That would be a 1-2 punch inside-outside offense. With Rick as a coach, I'm sure that defense wouldn't be too much of an issue.

    Speaking of Det.

The Detroit Pistons need point guard Brandon Jennings to keep everyone on the court happy this season, and this can only be done one way: by passing them the ball. Former Milwaukee Bucks teammate Larry Sanders is, shall we say, skeptical:
Larry Sanders when asked for response to Brandon Jennings’ comments on playing with better bigs in DET: “He has to pass it to them first”
    http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba...nings-passing/

Just because you're offended, doesn't mean you're right. ― Ricky Gervais.

What if someone from a school of business or management school were to ask, How did you do this? How did you get the Pacers turned around? Is there a general approach you've taken that can be summarized?

    Larry Bird: Yeah, patience.
