Thread: Off Season News, Rumors, and Trades, etc. 2013

Ya Venezuela got hosed. I wish Vasquez was playing, few players feed off/fuel the crowd like he does.

I hope Scola was just fatigued tonight, his defense left a lot to be desired, and his 5th foul was just dumb.

That was an awful call I am still wondering how they missed the goaltending what a shame the way it ended. Venezuela choked a bit in the 4th but still those calls changed the game.Vzl just can't play that pressure game all tourney they will wear out. Campazzo started taking care of the ball in the 4th and that really changed the game.

Jared Sullinger turned himself in on domestic violence charge...Celtics have had no luck with last 3 first round Bigs they picked...also this puts Brad Stevens in a difficult situation already

Yeah, I didn't agree with the flagrant call there. It was a normal foul for me.

The goaltending call was a bit more complex, though. In FIBA you are allowed to swat away a ball that is in the cylinder but you cannot grab the rim or the net. I'm not sure if the Argentinians grabbed the rim. It was a tough call for sure.

Also the floor being wet was inexcusable if I was the coach I would of went and mopped the floor myself. I saw the guy slipping a mile away that was another two free points.

I didn't count Olynk there (yet?). He had a dominant summer league for what its worth.

Fab and JJ are bad in hindsight, but people thought the picks were OK at the time. I guess props to you if you saw it ahead of time.

No hindsight for me I called both of them awful before their drafts I didnt have a 1st rd grade on either, and for J.J that was hard. I really loved J.J at Purdue, but his skill set I just never saw translating one bit. I was shocked he went 1st rd. Melo I was ripping all year the year he came out.

Sullinger is the only guy who proved me wrong kid can play and I would of passed. I had a first rd grade on him, but he concerned me way to much to take him. I actually think Olynk and Sully would be a fun small ball lineup to watch. Not sure it wins you games, but it would be fun. Olynk will be good offensively outside of the paint he should be an ok high post player, but he is going to get ate alive on defense. Brad has his work cut out for him to make him passable. I know I wouldn't want to have to scheme for Olynk's defensive ineptitude. I think he ends up a player who puts up empty stats.

Gustavo Ayon had a 19 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks game against Argentina.

Scola had 25 points (7/16 shooting, 11/16 FTs), 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 block.

I'm a dick, and I know it, so at least realize I'm fully aware of that when I say the following: For the love of everything sacred and holy in life, could you please say "would have" or at the very least "would've?" I know this is a message board and I know we aren't writing thesis papers here, and I know that my grammar isn't glittering, but please. It's so easy.

He is talented. Troubled, but talented.
"We've got to be very clear about this. We don't want our players hanging around with murderers," said Larry Bird, Pacers president.

The saddest thing about my phone shattering was losing the grammar checker. I just switched to an android, and can not find anything that compares to what I had with the apple spell checker. I normally do say would have I just missed that. That is one thing that I took away from English 111 don't use would've use the complete words. I am actually getting pretty good at writing believe it or not (easy A in writing still rocking the 4.0 GPA). I still have no clue on the grammar part. I spend far more time editing my papers than writing them.

I am thinking we should have a PD Pacers season kick off celebration( Wow what a catchy name) before the season starts. I don't know how viable that is, but I think sometime during the preseason would be a great time to have a meet up.

Yeah, in my own vast experience in writing papers in college, I quickly learned that they hate contractions like "would've" and "couldn't." That's a real bugaboo to those guys.

Oh I have no doubt you are a good writer and I do not think you are alone in the fact that you take more time editing papers than actually writing them. Editing is the real ***** of the whole process. I'm just turning into one of those ******** who crusades the internet for proper use of "would have" and, to a much greater extent, proper use of "your and you're." I'm losing.

I wasn't really meaning to single you out like that, because I see it quite a bit on here. I'm just crusading tonight and the negative influence thread has me riled up.

Sullinger's character was never in question. It was just his back, knees, etc. I still think he was a good value where Boston picked him. JaJuan Johnson and Fab Melo were bad picks, but weren't they in the mid-late twenties? That was like us rolling the dice on David Harrison. You care, but that late in the draft if there's a big man who has size that can dribble without falling on his face, you take him.

Oh yeah it was unreadable. I'll give him a ton of credit here: He takes criticism very well and is willing to work to fix it. Is something as petty and silly as my mini-rant at the top of his priority list? Of course not, but he's come a long way.

Yes, for calling him on a grammar faux pas and then proceeding to compliment him, I am a douche.
