Martell Webster is another one of those guys you can add to the injury list and Portland been dumb once again, they gave the guy a 4 years contract and he was injured, can't remember but I think he was out for the season too.

Portland must have the worst training staff in the league. It seems like every season, at least 2-3 of their rotation guys miss significant time. It's not like every guy they sign is injury prone... it's that guys can't seem to stay healthy in Portland. Very weird.
In the 09-10 season, the Blazers had so many injuries that they didn't have enough healthy players to play a 5-on-5 in practice. So, their (then) coach Nate McMillan with his (then) assistant Monty Williams had to fill in as practice players. The result? Nate McMillan ruptured his right Achilles tendon and had to go undergo surgery and miss his team's East Coast trip.

    Here's an article about that:

    http://www.insidehoops.com/blog/?p=5112

Guard Nate McMillan suffered an injury in practice yesterday.

That would be a normal thing to read if McMillan was still playing in the NBA, but he’s the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers.

Jason Quick of the Oregonian reports:

    Nate McMillan injured in practice
Add coach Nate McMillan to the Trail Blazers’ injury list.
In another twist to an already strange season, McMillan on Friday ruptured his right Achilles tendon while he and assistant coach Monty Williams were filling in as practice players because the team didn’t have enough healthy bodies to play five-on-five.
McMillan will coach tonight’s home game against Houston, but will undergo surgery Monday and miss the Blazers’ four-game trip next week to New York, Indiana, Cleveland and Milwaukee. Lead assistant Dean Demopoulos will coach the team.
McMillan’s injury comes at an especially unsettled time for the Blazers (12-8), who have lost three in a row, all of them decisive defeats. His injury also continues a trend of injuries and sickness that has plagued the Blazers since last summer.
Kidding here: No word if the Blazers will now look to sign guard Clyde Drexler to fill in.
Seriously, I'm not even going to blame their training staff for this. I honestly believe that they are somewhat cursed.
Tonight, all flags must burn, in place of steeples.
Autonomy must return into the hands of the people.

it's a lengthy read but a sports kinesiologist that was contracted by the Blazers wrote a pretty scathing blog post about Portland's medical staff after their relationship ended, he evaluated Oden personally and was apparently laughed at by Portland

45 could probably still hold his own on a NBA court.

I would have to see this to believe it, maybe for a quarter, maybe even for a half, but eventually MJ's going to get tired.

Since when was "hold his own" synonymous with playing heavy minutes? He's 50. You're stating the obvious.

Well yeah, that's why he retired 10 years ago. I'm just saying that he could still fake out a few cats in the halfcourt.

Portland's Rose Garden's now called "Moda Center at Rose Quarter." Moda Healthy's apparently an Oregon based healthcare provider. That'll take some getting used to.

Very interesting read. Thanks for find this.
Makes me think of JO and his knee issues after gained all that weight. I always thought our training and medical staff back then were terrible, because alot of our players had chronic knee issues once they built up their NBA bodies.

JO was committed to playing every summer so he could be on the Olympic team. Part of his problem was he never took off enough time to heal properly.

That is why I am not always a proponent of every single player bulking up. Especially with taller players you really need to be careful, if their knees can't take the extra weight it can ruin their career before it even gets started. I feel like most people, players, and even teams, don't take this into consideration. They just see a player who is was stronger could do so much more and push them to get bulk up and don't consider the possible negative consequences.

That sounds like somebody we know, to me playing hurt is worse than no playing at all.
