That feather in the cap for Brooklyn has got to put them ahead of the Pacers as Eastern Conference favs.(behind Miami) At least on paper. We all know that the super teams on paper don't always pan out though.
    IDK, lets compare them

    Deron Williams > George Hill
    Joe Johnson < Paul George
Paul Pierce >/= Danny Granger (depends on health, most likely Pierce)
Kevin Garnett < David West (KG isn't what he used to be, West is better now)
Brook Lopez < Roy Hibbert (2 sides of the floor, and Hibbert is the best defensive center, possibly best defensive player in the NBA, and still a very good offensive player)

Benches- (projected key players, too soon to decide)

    Indiana
    -----
    C.J. Watson
    Lance Stephenson
    Solomon Hill
    None
    Ian Mahinmi

    Brooklyn
    -----------
    None
    Jason Terry
    None (likely Kyle Korver)
    Evans
    Blatche

very similar teams as far as being on paper, i give the edge to Indy for chemistry and coaching

I think people should reserve their judgement until we actually see the team on the floor.

Don't agree. I would call KG and West a draw and I would call Lopez and Hibbert a draw. Better bench for Brooklyn depending on what the Pacers still do in FA.

don't mean to pick on anybody, but man I hate when people do individual player v. player as a way to compare teams. basketball doesn't work that way.

Korver has got to be the most overrated player by this board.
he is a good player, but all he does is shoot the 3, not a drive threat, not a great passer, not very good defensively, and George absolutely shut him down in the playoffs

I feel that this time around, less people are being suckered into believing that a team that buys a bunch of big names, will be a "super team".

Patience and being carefully built not bought, is what leads to long term success and deep playoff runs/title(s). A rare exception is for the Miami Heat, because LeBron James is the glue of the team.

I'm not concerned with the Nets being a top tier team in the conference. Our chemistry is significantly better than theirs will be.

    KG- 14.8 ppg 7.8 rpg .9 blkpg .496 FG% 19.25 PER
    DW- 17.1 ppg 7.7 rpg .9 blkpg .498 FG% 20.21 PER

    why is that a draw?

I hope Josh Smith signs with the Pistons. Because I hate the Pistons.

This is as entertaining as the arguments for Charlie V., Ben Gordon and Jose Calderon.

Seems clear to me Prokhorov values name and starpower above all else. Perhaps in two years he'll realize it's time for a different approach.
I hope not! I bet Simon likes that rubel luxury tax payment.

I don't mind Copeland but he doesn't excite me that much. Not a true stretch 4. Not quick enough for the 3. There's a reason he was in Europe til he was 29 IMO
I do. I do not want him. Like you said he can't guard anyone. He doesn't rebound he doesn't do anything other than stretch the floor. If we want a small ball PF Solo fits the bill better IMO, he does so many other things.

Expecially if Solo Hills #44 as Solo Jones did. Bird said at the news conference 9 was not going to be Hill's number -44 was his college number

No 9 is his number... Bird was referring to the 13 (the year) that was printed on the front of the jersey.

“People talk about how quiet he [McKey] is, but he’s really been helpful. He gives a lot of insight to players in how to guard certain teams and what their weaknesses are. The whole team listens to him, and it makes my job a lot easier. Having players like him is what pro basketball is all about for me.” —Larry Brown

Not as bad as calling Hibbert and Lopez a draw.

Lopez is a great offensive Center and Hibbert struggled last year, but we can all agree a healthy Hibbert is atleast on par with Lopez offensively. However, Lopez may be one of the worst rebounding/defensive starting Centers in the league, especially for a guy considered to be an All-Star. Hibbert laps him in that regards.

Excuse me? That's a draw on paper if there ever was one. Stats are almost identical. West averages 33 minutes last season compared to KG's 29 minutes hence about 2 more PPG. Otherwise Identical!

No. Lopez is better offensively period. Hibbert is better defensively. Lopez an All Star currently. Hibbert is not. Draw.

For the right price, I'd love to have Chris Copeland. As a SF and a PF, he'd be solid off the bench.

I agree. These "super teams" have been assembled before. Just last year with the LAL. A way yonder before with LAL when they had Payton and Malone, etc. Sometimes it works, like with the Heat. Usually the older players break down and they can't keep the team on the floor all at the same time.

West gets 33 mpg, KG gets 30 mpg (expect that to go down further this year with his age), While West gets more ppg, apg, slightly higher FG%, and a higher PER, not to mention KG will be 38 next season, his play will get worse most likely each passing season

    Meh, lazy analysis imo.

As for Copeland/Budinger, sign me up for Copeland. Should be far cheaper and we're not talking about big minutes here. More match up based spot minutes. We have enough around Copeland to cover his weaknesses in spurts, and he has what it take to cover ours.
