Martell Webster is available. He's a bigger (6'7" vs. 6'4"), slightly better version of Ellington, and he shot 42.2% from downtown this past season. I imagine he wouldn't cost too much; maybe around $2.5M per season.
I would much prefer him I have stated that many times. I think he gets more though. He was one of the best 3 and D guys in the league last year IMO. Ellington would basically be veterans min. I think Webster gets MMLE at worst money. He has been my # one option for a while. He would make me forget about Brandon Rush. Webster to me played great last year. He is a lot better than people realize he needs to be on a good team.

Anyone else curious why the Pacers haven't said anything about qualifying offers to our RFAs yet? Isn't tomorrow the last day? I wonder what options they're weighing.
It has to be Tyler. We won't be using any cap space to give Qualifying offers to Pendy or Ben...so there's really no mulling anything there. IF they want both to return...they'll just become UFAs and then make them another regular contract.

I hope that they don't spend the QO and CapSpace on Hansbrough....but I can completely see Bird holding on to Tyler cuz of the little things he does but mainly cuz he's an asset that the Pacers have invested $$$ in. Why give up on that especially when Hansbrough is a Bird pick.

If I thought that we had a need for YET ANOTHER Wing Player in the rotation.....I'd choose Martell over Ellington.

But it doesn't matter.... I don't want to add to our every growing SG/SF rotation.

Keep the eye on the ball fellas......it's nice to have a 3pt specialist....but we don't have the $$$ or minutes to get one. We need to spend $$$ on 2 Backup PGs and 1 Backup PF.

I didn't see this, not sure where the source is:

    http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knick...content=Knicks

The Knicks are resigned to the notion Copeland will take the money and run. He is coming off a minimum contract of $472,000 and is seeking “Steve Novak money’’ — four years, $16 million. The Pelicans will make a run at Copeland, as reported by The Post. The Pacers also have interest, as do the under-the-cap Mavericks and Bucks.
Isn't Copeland more of a SF Tweener? I like him as a Player cuz he's versatile.

Also...on a side note.....I'm so happy that the Knicks are being dismantled and are hoping to get veterans at the minimum while possibly losing JR Smith and Copeland.

I was all in for Korver... But after the drafting of Solo... Give me a solid PF and PG and I am good to go!!!

I still would have loved to have had that shooting touch in the second unit... But another wing is completely redundant at this point...

No doubt. I would rather grab McBob than bring back Tyler and I'm not saying I want to do that either, but McBob showed way more than Tyler last year.

I felt "meh" on Copeland until I checked out his production this past season as a 28-year-old rookie. 8.7 ppg in just 15.3 mpg (20.3 points per 36 minutes), including 42.1% from behind the line. If he's not just a one-year fluke, he would definitely be the scorer/shooter off the bench we've been looking for. 4/$16M seems a bit much to me at first, but if he's as good of a scorer as the numbers make him out to be, it could be a steal.

Im a bit troubled about giving 4 year deals out to guys like that

i think it's just best if u stick to 1 year deal's with bench players that way if there terrible you can move on quickly

Can't remember the name but a podcast on indycornrows a couple days ago, he has someone from ESPN on and they discuss that we are not offering a QO to Tyler. I don't remember all the details and it's to long to listen to again. Guess we will find out soon.

That is incorrect. I watched the Knicks series. Copeland shoots 98% from the three point line.

Green proved to me that I don't want anymore one year scoring wonders, find me a vet in the waning years of his career. I like the idea of veteran leadership off the bench, like what Byron Scott did for the Pacers during the Miller/Smits years.

The Pacers desperately need a dead eye shooter on the perimeter. Copeland seems like a good option. I think Watford could be a good
Player in that role. He is a rookie and unproven however. We have not heard a peep about picking up QO's on any of the Pacers and today is the last day to do that. Am I surprised by that.....nope.

I doubt we give QO to anyone.... I really dont want copeland bc it will cost some $$$. He said he would go back to the Knicks for less anyways...... also I would prefer to have a traditional PF like landry as the backup, I've always loved his game. I think we let tyler walk and dont extend a QO offer to pendy but resign him for less. Also I have no idea who we are going at for backup PG but I wouldnt mind bringing Price back.

He did nothing in Memphis? He shot 42.3% from 3 in 40 games in Memphis.

Cleveland had no reason to want Ellington. They have Dion Waiters, the 4th overall pick of last year's draft, at the starting SG spot and they obviously want to develop him further.

Plus, take a look at who they drafted this year:

    1) Anthony Bennet - PF / SF (shot 38.3% from 3 at UNLV)

    2) Sergey Karasev - SF / SG (shot 49% from 3 in 4.6 attempts per game at Triumph in Russia)

    3) Carrick Felix - SG (shot 37.4% from 3 in his final season in Arizona State)

They don't need a SG and they don't need a shooter either. They already have those. So, why pick up his option?

On the other hand, we absolutely do need a shooter. Ellington would certainly help.

Carrick Felix is interesting in that I don't recall seeing his name on a mock, yet Cleveland drafted him at #33. You'd think they could have traded the #33 to move back in the draft to have gotten him. What did they see in him that others didn't as their was no buzz regarding him?

For those thinking the Pacers reached at drafting Hill, Cleveland reached even futher in picking Felix. The difference is Felix is a 2nd rd pick with an unguaranteed contract. Head scratching pick considering who was still available. Must have been their BPA, gotta chuckle tho.

What did Cleveland get from Portland for trading the #31 pick to them?

I don't see the reach in Felix, I loved the pick. He plays great defense and Cavs just helped themselves there.

I really don't get this "reach" thing. If a team wants a player and they can't find a taker to move back a few picks without risking on not getting said player, then its not reaching if they get their man.

I'm not one that likes to bring former Pacer players back. People forget how much criticism there was about Price's game when he was here. It kept Sookie busy trying to defend his game. There are better options available. Pass.

Carrick Felix was ranked #69 in DX's top 100 prospects (for a comparison Hill was ranked #47) and wasn't projected to be drafted by DX either. So, yes, Cleveland reached even further than us according to the experts at 10 picks laters.

From what I've read both Solomon Hill and Carrick Felix were trending lately. Felix proved that he is very athletic, that he can defend his man exceptionally well and shoot the 3. Solomon Hill proved that he has guard skills, can shoot the 3 and defend the perimeter despite his size. In other words, Felix proved that he can be 3 & D guy while Hill proved that he is a true SF and not a tweener.

That's why both players rose late. That's what the teams that drafted them reportedly saw in them.

It's right up there with "you must carry 13-15 players but can only dress 12" rule. Why give 15 roster spots if you can't activate all 15 guys for every game?
Isn't it to theoretically allow multiple teams to make their pitch to a given player before said player can officially sign with an earlier suitor?

They found someone to trade the #31 pick to, so I don't see the validity in your statement of not being able to find a taker.

My point was, you must have missed it, that they reached to draft a player no one was even talking about, especially at the 3 pick in the 2nd rd. That's one big jump/reach.
