    Default PF 2013 - 2014 Season

I saw Tyler has a qualifying offer for 4.1 million ; I also saw that Al-Farouq Aminu is a FA. I think 4.1 million is too much for Hans. Would you replace him with Aminu? David West is a FA and so is Paul Milsap. It will be interesting to see who makes more $$ Milsap or West. Does West wait to see what Milsap signs for ? If the Pacers sign West for a larger / long term contract can the afford to give PG24 a max contract ? No way Pacers can afford Hill / Roy / West / PG24.

Do the Pacers draft a PF or a PG ? Would you be surprised to see Hill packaged with Granger in a deal ?

Going be a key off-season for the future.

Hansbrough shouldn't be back but Aminu isn't a power forward so he won't be the replacement.

West will get a big contract. Bigger than Milsap. And the big contract West signs with us will not harm our ability to max out Paul George. They can easily afford Hill, Hibbert, West, and George.

God, I hope they don't give Tyler $4M.

That would mean you'd be paying $9M for Ian, Tyler, and Miles. Puke.

    7ppg. 5rpg. 43%.

    I repeat, puke.

I really had faith in Tyler going into the playoffs, but he's been beyond useless. One nice effort in Game 1, otherwise he's sucked it up.

Yes, but Tyler is an energy player and that is hard to measure. If we get rid of Tyler, we need to replace him with a big man that can bring intensity. There have been many instances this season where Tyler's energy off the bench sparked a run from the rest of the team.

I hope we're far enough removed from the JOB years that I can say this and not get crucified but...

I REALLY want a stretch four. The best available option is Tolliver, though, and he's not someone we can rely on for 18 or so minutes.

Granger and Hill aren't going anywhere. West will resign probably by July 1 or 2.

Tyler won't be back. Even if the Pacers make a QO, someone will offer more and the Pacers won't match. Tyler doesn't want to play here because he won't get enough playing time.

Whether the Pacers draft a PG or PF in the first round depends on a few things. What low cost FA's will be available to at least temporarily fill in at back up PG or PF. Also what about Plumlee? He is supposed to be another Jeff Foster. Foster began contributing in his 2nd season. If the Pacers really believe Plumlee will be another Foster, they will pick a PG.

    Yuck!

I was a big Tyler fan during his first two seasons here, but I'm ready to move on. The guy never got any better and is actually worse now than he was two years ago. The league figured him out, as NaptownSeth predicted.

8 million combined for Hans and Mahinmi would just be absolutely hideous.

How are we going to improve the bench next year though? We're giving $7 million to Mahinmi and Gerald Green. Green can't even get into games. Mahinmi is a decent big man at times, but overall he has been underwhelming and is certainly not worth the 4 year contract that he was given.

I would have wholeheartedly agreed with you before the playoffs. But, seeing him outworked every time he gets out there...really makes the "energy and intensity" argument invalid.

I know Tyler isn't a great "stats" guy, but as of right now, he isn't a great "anything" guy.

This offseason is more interesting to the one last year, with new management, I hope Walsh has learned from his mistakes and isn't too loyal to his players and also doesn't give out lengthy contracts.

I wouldn't expect much this offseason. After West's new deal there won't be much to work with. We'll get another low dollar short term backup PG, possibly Augustin but I doubt it, maybe a low dollar short term backup PF, I think Pendergraph seems likely, and that's about it. This year's draft pick will have to actually be able to contribute something this year so that will be important.

Other than that, it's simply a matter of hoping Granger gets healthy, whether that means for him to help us or help somebody else will remain to be seen but he won't be able to moved until he shows he can play.

Tyler won't be coming back. $4.1M is too much for him and he's proving that with every playoff game.

I think the Pacers will just re-sign Pendergraph (cheaper) and play Granger at the 4 spot a lot next year. Going with Hill-Lance-George-Granger-West/Hibbert could be a good situational small ball lineup that wouldn't necessarily hurt you defensively.

Letting Tyler go also opens up more playing time for Plumlee. Even if he stinks it up next year, you have to throw him out there and see what you have at some point.

You people are focusing too much on the amount of Tyler's QO. The more important aspect is length of a contract. They could sign Tyler to a 1 year contract worth $10 million for all I care, as long as it is only 1 year. There is no long term risk in a 1 year contract which is more important to this team going forward than the exact amount that player is being paid for that single season. Beware of long term contracts, not 1 year contracts.

Why pay Hansbrough $4 million (or $10 million?!?!?!?!?!) for 1 season, when you can get similar production from somebody for a $1-2 million 1 year deal?

Why do people act like energy players are hard to find? Teams that can make a competent bench have multiple.

Why do people act like Hansbrough's "energy" is in any way beneficial to the our team? You can pay me a lot less than $4 million to run around flailing my arms like a weirdo and not contribute in any other fashion.

If Hans is brought back, I'll have a conniption. He's beyond worthless. I'd be shocked if any team signs him.

While I want no part of him, he'll definitely be signed by somebody.

Hopefully one of the teams we've got on our schedule 4 times next season.

Really? that is the best you have?

I think if he wants to come back, then I want him back. 4.1 for 1 year isn't bad?

Maybe Danny is our small-ball backup 4, Ian our big ball backup 4, and then we draft Withey from Kansas as a backup 5?

Next year hopefully OJ's role expands so we add another shooter besides Danny, we add the best shooting FA wing possible, and find a cheap backup PG that is an upgrade to Augustin.

It's fixable but it should have been fixable last summer too.
