Default Game 1 for Pacers-Knicks scored higher market share in Indy than in NYC

    http://www.ibj.com/the-score-2013-05...AMS/post/41237

    Pretty impressive.

14.4 rating and 24 market share in Indianapolis to just 9.1 rating and 19 share in NYC, which means 1/4 of the market in Indy was watching while NYC was more like 1/5. Yes 1/5 in NYC is still more people, but it just goes to show you that the support for the Pacers in Indy is just as strong as other places on a percentage basis. We need to stop punishing ourselves for not having as big a population base as some of these other cities.

Also this shows a huge bump from last year when game 1 of the Miami series was an 11.7 rating. (Game 1 last year against Miami was also a Sunday ABC game)

The game also outdid the Nascar telecast whcih usually scores and wins Sunday afternoons here.

Impressive stuff really all around. On top of this, 2 had a very solid 9.75-ish rating going until the wheels fell off in the 4th and it dipped really low.

Can't wait for the atmosphere Saturday. The city is buying in big time.

The NASCAR race section missed out one key part that really helped the Pacers. The NASCAR race was delayed by rain during the middle. It was delayed around 3:20, and it didn't restart until close to 7. So that was a double benefit to the Pacers. Not only was there no race to compete against, but many of those fans were probably staying close to their televisions but flipping channels during the delay (it was not known how long the delay would last as the rain was scattered). The entire Pacers game fit into that window, so that was really helpful for ratings.

Game 3 will also be up against a NASCAR race, and it looks like the race is scheduled to end just before or around the same time as the game ends. So that will be an interesting test.

Game 3 should get a MASSIVE rating. An 8 PM Saturday home game with the series tied will get people talking.

We are definitely a bigger topic of conversation here in Seymour than we have been for a long time... As a well known Pacer fan in my community I've had a lot more Pacer conversations in the last few days than I've had in a LOOONG time... This New York series is going to be crucial for ticket sales next season...

Winning this series is very important for a lot of reasons!

Unfair to compare to NYC, the largest cities always have a lower rating than a smaller city, especially a diverse city like NYC

for comparison, last years game #4 against the heat also on Sunday also at 3:30. Rating was just over 17
