Default OT- Where in the USA Would You Live?

I haven't seen an off-topic area of this forum, so feel free to move this post if necessary...

Let's say you go on a game show and you have the opportunity to win up to five homes that will be built for you. All homes will be equally nice, say, about $250K by Indiana standards. There is a 90% chance you'll win at least 1 home, a 70% chance you'll win two homes, a 50% chance you'll win three, a 30% chance for four, and a 10% chance you'll win all five homes.

Regardless of how many homes you win, the condition is that all of them must be built in different US states. Before the show you are required to give a list of your 5 states, in order of preference. Again, you may win 1 home, you may win 4 or 5, so the order of priority is important. If you win 2 homes, for example, they will be built in the states that are 1 and 2 on your list. You can choose at a later time where in each state you want your houses to be built.

What would your state list be and WHY? Give some reasons for at least a couple of the states you choose.

    1. Lexington, KY (where I live right now)
    2. New York (for resale value)
    3. California (for resale value)
    4. Florida (for rental income)
    5. Colorado (vacation home)
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

    1 Hawaii - Paradise
2 Florida - Where I live now. Warm in winter, no state taxes, and it's where Geezer would like to live. (Giggle, giggle, snort)
3 California - Son lives there
4 Texas - Warmer than Indiana, no state taxes
5 Indiana - Relatives live there.

    4. Hawaii - Paradise.
    5. Indiana - It's home.

San Francisco or San Diego. I'm in Sacramento now so I'm close to the Bay at least. I love going there though. Its a fantastic city. As is San Diego. Perfect weather year round is quite nice too.

    1. Indiana - Home, family is here
    2. Upper penninsula of Michigan - slow pace of life, awesome winters for snowmobiling
    3. Southern Utah - Fantastic natural scenery and friendly people
    4. Southern Illinois, specifically farm country just northeast of St. Louis - people who are so nice that it is almost like the Twilight Zone
    5. Florida - specifically SW. Lots of economic potential going forward, a melting pot of people and ideas, spent half of my childhood in Cape Coral and still have friends there

    1.) Big Sur, CA
    2.) Miami, FL

The other three wherever, I'd just sell them and use the money to buy a nice little townhouse in Paris.

Be careful what you wish for. I was living in Cleveland and thought the same thing. Then they sent me to Toledo...

    2) San Francisco - most beautiful city in the United States. Unparalleled charm.
    3) Miami - love the urban glitz, warm weather, and beaches. Such a vibrant city.
    4) DC Metro area - beautiful suburban area, tons of history, and the center of government.
    5) Indy - it's home. Lovely city that's easy to live in.

First of all, screw the the Midwest. Hate to say it, Homers, I'll travel to visit family here.

    1. Boulder, Co. Progressive thinkers. Lack of obesity. Great central location for traveling. Great weather year round. Georgeous views everywhere. Close enough to Denver to go into the big city for nightlife.

    2. Las Vegas: North suburbs. With all the entertainment acts that travel through there, I'd love it. Really culturally diverse city, which people don't know.

    3. San Diego- Culturally diverse, great weather, close to the ocean. Really diverse restaurant scene. Laid back attitude.

    4. Washington, DC (suburbs) Melting pot of people, ton of things to do. Really interesting people.

    5. Hawaii- Only because I've never been there and I can't see a downside to living on the ocean in a laid back area like that.
Hey! What're you kicking me for? You want me to ask? All right, I'll ask! Ma'am, where do the high school girls hang out in this town?

    Anywhere but Washington DC

Just kidding. I love the jobs here, but if I had my choice I would be in Florida or maybe Cali (never been on the left coast, but it has a lot of what I love)

Getting back from the Bahamas I could handle that any day of the year, all day every day

    1. Indiana- Only because it's home and I'd be close to family and friends. It's impossible for me to imagine moving my 2 young children away from everyone they know.

    2. California- I want the weather but not the humidity and mosquitos, which for me is why California will always be the better palm-tree/beachy choice over Florida.

    3. New Hampshire- Pleasant. Peaceful. I hate the heat, so it would be a nice summer getaway.

    4. Washington- The only state on this list that I've never been to, but it seems beautiful. Another summer home option. I'd also like the proximity to Vancouver.

    5. South Carolina- I'm not that big on the South, but for the sake of variety I'd pick South Carolina. Nice golf courses, and Charleston is lovely.

One of my best friends is currently stationed at Pearl Harbor. He hates it.

He's also basically a hermit, so there's that.

Probably somewhere along the coast in washington it's got just about every type of scenery I would care to have Mountainous regions, close proximity to the ocean, temperate rain forest...the weather there tends to suck but I don't really mind rain all that much and it's kind of prone in parts to having some major natural catastrophe to destroy some parts of it but it seems like a pretty laid back place to live. as a matter of fact probably going to go visit it and try to see what there is to see over the summer.

    3. San Fransisco- great culture and a progressive modern city, plus I have family there.
    4. Indiana - live here now, grew up here. Its not so bad.

    1. AZ- Nice weather, love the views and I love the fact that you can live in a big city or in the middle of no where.

    2. Henderson, NV- Got a few friends that live here and as mentioned earlier the Vegas area can be anything you want. Plus they get all the touring bands (something I miss living away from the states)

    3. Hilton Head Island- Laid back, beach life and the rich friends I could make.

    4. Alaska- I have always wanted to tough out 2 or 3 years in Alaska. Heck I have not lived in cold weather for 18 years and refuse to visit my folks in Indy during the winter but something about saying I did it draws me in.

    5. Atlanta- The city is a good size, basketball tickets are cheap and the airport can get you anywhere in the world quickly (big hub for Delta/Airtran).

    1. Maui: The most beautiful, serene place I've ever visited. I felt like I was in a completely different country when I was there.
    2. NYC: More for the experience. I've never been but I would love to just be able to be around the hustle/bustle of a city that never shuts down.
    3. Seattle: It was either here or Portland. The Pacific Northwest has a certain vibe that I'd love to be a part of.
    4. Austin, TX: The music lover in me would absolutely go crazy in this city.
    5. Small Town So-ILL: It's home. Good people. Can be a boring and redneck place at times, but I can't forgot my roots.
