First pick I think I've legitimately liked. Milliner is a gamer. Nice, younger, cheaper replacement for Revis.

That is awesome. I love that. The kid from St. Jude's getting to announce the Saints pick. Well done, NFL.

Jon Gruden loves EJ Manual so much that he keeps adding an extra syllable to his last name. He is now EJ Emmanual.

    Lol. :P

I love the pick. At the beginning of the draft I said that I would be ecstatic if Warmack, Jarvis Jones, or Werner fell to us.

I'm happy, as a Pats fan, with the somewhat boring, somewhat predictable trade-down, getting 4 picks for #29 (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th rounders). Their positions of highest need (WR, CB, DE, DT, S) all have at least a couple of near-equals atop the available list, with 4 picks coming today.

Some experts have suggested that picks below 15-20 in the first round this year grade out to 2nd rounders, historically, but that the entire 2nd round may well grade out as 2nd's, and a decent amount of the 3rd's in this draft may grade out as 2nd's too. So not a top-heavy draft but a depth draft. Who knows though.

And who will gamble on Honey Badger? I would not, in the 2nd anyway. Seeing him there late in the 3rd, though....I'd start to be tempted.

Four picks for a late first rounder is a typical Patriots fleecing another team in the draft move. I'd be happy too if I were a Pats fan.

I think it's obvious that the Manti Te'o hoax hurt his stock.

    Per ESPN's Mike Sando:
    http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcwest/post...t-round-trades

    Fifth trade

New England Patriots give up: 29th pick

Minnesota Vikings give up: 52nd, 83rd, 102nd and 229th picks

Old trade chart verdict: no clear winner. The Patriots received picks worth 649.5 points for a pick worth 640 points. That's a wash. Drake: "The team trading down (Patriots) received excess value equal to zero number one picks, 1 percent more than they traded away."

Harvard chart verdict: Patriots win big. They received picks worth 410.9 points for a pick worth 208.7 points. Drake: "The team trading down (Patriots) received excess value equal to .41 number one picks, 98 percent more value than they traded away."

Sando comment: This looks like a knockout victory for the Patriots on the Harvard chart. Both teams came into the draft with a need at wide receiver. The Vikings took one, Cordarrelle Patterson. I'll be interested to see whether Patterson develops into a more dynamic threat than anyone the Patriots might select with those later selections.

    ----------
I wasn't at all familiar with the "Harvard chart" but apparently it it is an "update" that relies on more in-depth statisical analysis of career achievement vs. draft position

Some of the Jets fan are really an obnoxious bunch, aren't they? They will boo everyone and everything. And not just them. Some ex players were booed for no apparent reason yesterday or even a couple of fans that won the lottery to announce a pick.

Oh well. At least the b2b picks of Te'o and Smith gave a bit of life to a boring draft selection.

I gotta admit, I knew Tyler Wilson would drop, but I didn't think Knile Davis would go before him. Or that an Arkansas Pine Bluff player would go before either of them. Davis is a poster boy for the benefits of coming out of college early.

Bobby Petrino owes Wilson a couple of million dollars.

Neither. Chris Long in the first round. Manuel as the first QB drafted. I thought the Honey Badger went about where people expected. I don't think it was that big of a surprise that Smith dropped to the second round or that the Jets took him...

EJ Manuel to the Bills, neither of those are a surprise. Jets need a QB and cards already have Peterson and minter, why not the honey badger.

The Jets made a good move in drafting Geno Smith. Now all they need to do is cut those two scrubs in Sanchez and Tebow. Eating the cost is better than the distraction that those two bring. I can't take anymore nauseating Sal Paolantonio reports from the Jets complex. I prefer NFL coverage that actually focuses on good teams instead of fixating on a terrible team with two of the worst quarterbacks in the league. It's amazing that the Giants have won two Super Bowls in recent years, yet the Jets get all of the national attention as far as the NY market is concerned. No one around the country cares about them and they aren't even the most popular team in the NY area, yet they are constantly shoved down our throat as if we want to hear about a "quarterback controversy" between two bums who can't play the position.
