Default Pacers are calling and offering more tickets for game 1

I just got a call from a Pacers rep (not a recording, an actual person) and he told me that I have the ability to add on to my existing order for Game 1 tickets at a discounted price. I didn't find out how much the discount was because I don't need more tickets, but he sounded desperate.

Not a good sign if the Pacers are begging people to buy more tickets two days out from Game 1.

Here you can check to see what and how many tickets are available though the pacers. (Non-secondary market) Click on the map. Hawks are not a draw at all, so I'm not surprised tickets aren't going that fast.

Not sure how many tickets available right now. Looks around 1200 on this map, I think - .

Holy ****! Tickets starting at $21... That's like, 1/3 of the cost of the tickets to see a Lakers preseason game at the ****** *** San Diego Sports Arena... (and at best 1/4 to 1/5 of the cost of a ticket for a regular season Lakers game at Staples).

I know it's irrelevant to the Pacers, since tickets on the secondary market are already "sold", but there are about 2k available for Sunday, and 2.5k Wednesday.

I certainly don't have a good feeling about this first round, hopefully we sweep em out in 4 and get it over with

I am curious about this. Are you saying that is on the secondary market or is that tickets that went unsold?

There are that many seats available being "re-sold" through StubHub and others. My above post has a link.

Thanks, yes, I clicked on the link.

Question - how does Stubhub get their tickets? Do they buy tickets directly from the pacers? Do they get them from season ticket holders who sell them.

I see on Stubhub it listed just under 2,000 tickets available.

They get them from STH that are re-selling.

Stubhub is only a "re-sale" market, not affiliated with any teams or anything. It's the PayPal of re-sale tickets though, rock solid. I've been buying tickets through them for years, never once had a glitch.

About 3 years ago I wanted to go to the home opener, so I bought $25 lower level seats 3 hours before the game. They showed up in my email about 10 minutes later, game on.

So 1200 through TM and 2000 through StubHub is 3200. That's almost 15,000 in attendance if no one buys a walk-up or buys a StubHub ticket from here forward and everyone attends who has a ticket not up for resale.

To me, I think that isn't so bad given people had to basically wait until Thursday to find out what day and time we were playing, much less the opponent.

I really wish they'd schedule the games as soon as they know someone has clinched home court, instead of waiting for TV to make up their minds about which matchups they want to show.

The game will be announced as sold out regardless.

Bought 6 balcony tickets through the "Presale" for about $42 each (after fees) in section 213, row 9. Just saw 10 tickets on stubhub 213, row 8 for $12
Not really sure what I'm getting at. I guess it's more of a shame that more Hoosiers aren't buying tickets. I may be thinking twice about pre-sales again though.

Yep. That's why I waited, same thing happened to me last year.

Here's the thing: Had the opponent been the Bulls, you'd have been able to re-sell those tickets for $50-$60 because demand would be much higher.

I wonder how much it will cost Herb/Indianapolis to have Atlanta drop to 6 instead of Chicago. Has to be a pretty big number, considering meals/hotels and 3k-5k seats, concessions.

As a point of comparison, I bought tickets the other day from StubHub for Warriors-Nuggets Game 3 in Oakland. $228 each for lower-level corner, row 24 (basically the back of the lower level).

This is for a 6th-seeded team that has made the playoffs only twice in almost 20 years. Much bigger market of course.

I would imagine that, with it being a Sunday game, we'll see a lot of movement on the secondary market tomorrow. People tend to wait till the last minute on weekend games.

The game to be concerned about is Wednesday. Cool/rainy (High of 50), mid-week, Atlanta...could be a really bad turnout.

I would absolutely make the drive, but I have a damned conference in PA Wednesday through Friday. Eff.

In the long run? Having casual Pacer fans come to games where the place is rocking FOR the Pacers is much more likely to bring repeat business than having them either unable to get in due to a Bulls fan sellout or to get in and find they're unwelcome in their own arena.

I thnk you'd be right in the short run, but I'll take the long view, thanks.

And twice in 20 years does make it a bigger deal, if you think about it.

If all the tickets being sold are on the secondary market (and it looks to be moving that way), then it IS a sellout.

This is true, though in general fan turnout during non-playoff seasons has been reasonably healthy as well. It's always a minimum of $30-40 just to get upper-level seats when the Pacers are in town, $120-ish for high lower
    level.

I don't pretend that this is a fair comparison, the Bay Area is very big and the Warriors are the only game in town (2 hours to Sactown doesn't count)

I actually never heard from the Pacers about playoff seats. With the dog dying and work being quite overwhelming right now (property claim adjuster, here) it all kinda slipped my mind. Now my daughter is asking if we're going to game one and it dawns on me I'm probably not going to get a good deal on tix this late.
