    Default Pacers / Clippers Post-Game Thread - 4/1

I don't know if Trophy is up now...so close this thread if he creates another Post-Game Thread.

This Team is an "ebb and flow" of efficient scoring offense and stiffling defense with the Starting 5....and then a clinic in how not to run your offense and defense when Vogel starts subbing in the 2nd unit. You can show video of "how to run your offense/defense" when the Starting 5 are on the floor....then show a video of "how not to run your offense and defense" when you start subbing in Players.

You could track when the Pacers and Clippers went on huge runs based off of when the entire Starting 5 is not on the floor. Once the subs start coming in....the Team starts to do terrible on both the offense and defensive end.

Also.....why doesn't Vogel run plays instead of letting PG/Lance/GH "dribble dribble pass pass" until there is less than a few seconds left on the Shot clock?

Seriously.....we started to lose the lead in the 4th QTR when they started doing that. I really don't know why Vogel doesn't run more plays to avoid this.

A Win is a Win.....and we need every one we can get.....but I hate ugly wins. My Blood pressure can't take games like this.

This is David West, he is the Honey Badger, West just doesn't give a *****....he's pretty bad *ss cuz he has no regard for any other Player or Team whatsoever.

After constantly hearing about other teams' streaks, it's nice to for the Pacers to have one of their own. Away record is now 500.

Man, that last play had me thinking we might see an astronaut out on the floor.

Good win. Keep seeing a lot of stats that go back to that 2004 season, the last time we were contenders. I likee-likee.

My oh my. JCraw was lights out. Paul just could not keep up...but Paul played his arse off and couldn't get off the floor. I'm sure fatigue got to him at some point.

It was definitely rough watching that finish but all that matters is the dubba U

Most teams don't use zone defenses that often, but Vogel might want to think about creating 5-10 plays to run against zone defenses. As a side note, Vinny was a fool for moving away from it when it was so effective against us.

Paul George is around 6'10", its hard for him to go over double screens.

Crawford is a beast, thankfully we won!

I'd be happy if Vogel simply ran some more plays more often...especially when we go stagnant on the offensive end with the whole "dribble dribble pass pass and wait til there is less than a few seconds left on the shot clock and take an ill advised well guarded shot" routine.

Zone defense and Indiana didn't know how to attack it.

Vinny is the Pacers MVP on this game, he took Bledsoe and Odom out so he could play CP3 and Blake, he also decided to take the ball away from Crawford who was killing us, bravo Vinny bravo.

Timeout management was wonderful as well. Every good coach knows that you save the last timeout for when you have the possibility to tie the game or take the lead, not when you are down 4.

Same thing that happens when we build big leads against Teams in the 1st 3 QTRs.....our offense becomes stagnant ( see my "dribble dribble pass pass" comments littered throughout the Game thread ), the process of subbing in our 2nd Unit Players along with Starters starts to erodes any lead that we have cuz our offense doesn't click and our defense isn't able to keep up with any offensive onslaught that comes our way, the Clips 2nd Unit ( led by JCraw ) erases our lead and we have what we have....a game that is too close for comfort.

But for once.....GH and PG actually hit some game clinching FTs at the end of the game.

A win is a win...but it's an ugly win that raised my blood pressure and erased a few years off of my life.

If we miss one of those FT's we lose that game. 8/8 was so impressive. I would like Vogel to work on sets that can break down the Zone though, it gave us fits.

Pretty much. I'm loving the win, but if I was Vinny...I would have rode the bench to the end. Their bench had scored 50+ of their points, and the reason why they were able to get back into the game.

Nothing made me happier than see Roy grab the front of Tyler's jersey and tell him to win the m*****f****** game. He was ready to eat someone's head off.
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

Has the state of Indiana outlawed zone defense? Because the Hoosiers and the Pacers were both clueless about how to attack it. Crawford and Odom were huge for them, but I mostly enjoyed watching Blake Griffin struggle so mightily when he couldn't just jump around like a kangaroo, and he had to try to play real basketball.

Roy was a monster in the first half. Felt like we should've used him more in the 3rd Quarter, but we were killing them with about everything we did, so it's cool. The 4th Q he got some cheap fouls and it hurt us. He's got to be the MVP for us, despite DWest and Paul having absolute All-Star seasons. Roy bringing his offense around now is perfect. Just gotta keep it rolling into the playoffs and we're going to be TOUGH.

Great road trip. Come home and defend the Fieldhouse against OKC.

Well, one way is to hit outside shots. We hit two back-to-back 3s, which is why VDN turned away from zone in the 4th.

The point stands though: we look disrupted, big time, with zone.

Man Mahinmi and Augustin just look clueless out there, pretty sure Paul George was tired after playing 42 minutes a game since David West has been out. A well needed rest coming up, I agree CableKC, we really need some offensive sets, when we get stagnant, but it might be too late in the season to practice those.
