That was a downer of a game. Hope Bradley is magically better by Tuesday.

    USA-Mexico!!

Hopefully we can play better. No Altidore/Bradley/Cameron/Besler. Bedoya in the starting lineup for Zusi, Donovan out left, Johnson at RB, Eddie Johnson up top. Interesting lineup. We NEED to start strong, absolutely cannot give up an early goal

Eddie Johnson with a terrific goal! He had a great chance in the first half that was saved by Corona, and this one was better

Absolutely splendid 2nd half for the USMNT. Played with better possession and defense, and just wanted it more than Mexico.

Defense was terrific today. Howard with some great saves, and Gonzalez and Goodson were stout and did not let anything in. Eddie J, Mix, Bedoya, Landon all had very good games getting things toward goal. Jermaine and Beckerman were both very good too. Just all around great 2nd half.

That was a great performance by the U.S. I loved every minute. What a great second half, and what a great crowd.

...and with the Honduras/Panama tie, the U.S. Men's National Team has clinched a spot in the 2014 World Cup. Go, go, USA!

I love, love how much this sport has grown over the past 10 years, the crowd in Columbus was terrific and loud. What an atmosphere!

I think they most likely will end up going, but they are going to have to play themselves in by beating, I believe, New Zealand.

I know very little about our squad, and I know very little of soccer, but from what I've seen, is that we've been looking good, right?

I was devastated that we let Mexico in. We still have bragging rights, but it won't feel the same.

I don't know much about soccer, but I'd assume this would be much like if the Pacers beat what was going to be the #8 seed in the east on a last second jumper, and let in lets say the Bulls back in the last game of the season.

I got a weird feeling it may bite the US back later on, though again I don't know much about the World Cup format. If Mexico manages to beat the US in a key game, things will be pointed back to this date hehe.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

That was cold blooded by the USA. Two goals in stoppage time. Ice freakin' cold.

Look, we shouldn't be afraid of Mexico. They ****ing suck and we have murdered this group, if we were to lose to them in the world cup (which they're still nto even qualified for) then that would be damn embarrassing.

The odds of Mexico even facing the US in the World Cup are about zero. That would involve Mexico moving on from their group and the USA winning their group. We own them now.

There is a chance one other CONCACAF team gets drawn in the same group as us. If, and they way things have gone this is a very big if, Mexico beats (upsets?) New Zealand, they have just as much chance of being in our group as anybody.

I don't think they would allow another Concacaf team into the same group as us. They try to make sure things are split up evenly among the groups, I believe. The only way we'll face them is in the elimination rounds

All CONCACAF teams will probably be in the same pot.

    Pot A
    Brazil
    Spain
    Germany
    Argentina
    Colombia
    Belgium
    Uruguay
    Switzerland

    Pot B (CONCACAF & AFC)
    USA
    Costa Rica
    Honduras
    Mexico
    Japan
    Australia
    Iran
    South Korea

    Pot C
    5 CAF
    Ecuador
    Chile

    Pot D
    8 UEFA

    Special Pot
1 UEFA to make sure that there won't be 3 UEFA teams in the same group

They will make sure that there will not be 2 CONCACAF teams in the same group.

My mistake. I thought everybody was lumped into the same pot other than the 8 seeded teams with the only caveat that more than two teams from the same federation couldn't be in one group.

Guys Mexico has to beat New Zealand on the road just to get in and this team has been a steaming pile for the past 8 months.

They have a home & home right?

Of course, that doesn't make it much easier for them the way things have gone in Azteca recently.

New Zealand couldn't beat Chivas USA. I don't think Mexico will have any problems.

Anyone watch the World Cup draw? USA pretty much couldn't have gotten a tougher group.

England got a tough draw too, delighted.
