Matt can start right away somewhere. Why would he want to come to Indy? Heck....I think the Jets should get him and use him for a couple years until they can find or draft a Sanchez replacement.

I wonder how much we paid him
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

Matt still has some left in the tank, I agree. Maybe he just wants to be in the playoffs again.

    Regardless, I love the signing.

Now told barring a major last-minute snafu, the Colts will sign Matt Hasselbeck tomorrow to a two year deal worth roughly $8 million.

Yeah, hasselbeck can still ball...he's a vet and a great guy to groom a guy, a coach on the field, would love him to be the backup for the rams and teach Sam how to be a real pro.

Hopefully that is $8 million for a guy who never plays a snap in the regular season or playoffs.

I think Hasselbeck is a nice addition. I always liked him and I think he will be a good influence in the locker room. I just hope Harnish can stick around still.

Also told the Colts are still in play for this mystery wide receiver -- don't know who -- but are waiting for the price to go down.

4mill/year seems sorta high for a backup QB... to me. He'd be a good resource for Luck, though.
There are two types of quarterbacks in the league: Those whom over time, the league figures out ... and those who figure out the league.

Hasselbeck is supposed to be a really great guy. Good for the locker room, and the Indianapolis community. This guy was also a pretty damn good player just a few years back. Happy to have him as a safety net, but even happier to have him here to help Luck grow and mature. I think this is a great signing.

It does seem like a lot for someone who you hope will never play an important down this season. That being said, I would rather overpay for a decent backup than be stuck in a situation where a Curtis Painter is taking important snaps. Our current regime seems like they don't want there to be any gaps at all on the roster and I respect that. Plus as you say, he will be a good resource for Luck. It's never a bad thing when a mentor is a QB who took his team to the Super Bowl.

When we freak about money we are demonstrating our clear NBA bias

I really like this signing. Hasselbeck is good enough to come in and be a big help in emergency situations but at the same time he poses absolutely no threat to Luck.

    Already stoked for 2013-2014.

I love the pick up.... Andrew lost his daddy mentor in Arians, but picked up a big brother mentor instead.
You know how hippos are made out to be sweet and silly, like big cows, but are actually extremely dangerous and can kill you with stunning brutality? The Pacers are the NBA's hippos....Matt Moore CBS Sports....
