Tell me the benefit of hyping up a fanbase about this and then having it either be really underwhelming or falling apart completely which are far better odds than a market value deal for a top tier WR, like Irsay's been hyping(!!!!!!!!!!). He's making his GM's job harder and it's stupid. He's not comparable to Cuban. Cuban spends, lets it be known he's willing to do so, and sticks up for his team with refs and Stern rulings, those types of things. He doesn't say "WE'RE GETTING A BRAND NEW AWESOME YOUNG STARTING PG!!!!!" and then trades for Darren Collison.
You mean kinda like "we're gonna get a shooter, and he's gonna be one of the best in the league" - then we find out it was Travis Deiner?

The Colts are taking a look at free agent wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Heyward-Bey is expected to visit with the Colts soon, possibly as early as today.

This would be a decent move if the financials were favorable. He's still pretty young, and it's not like he's had elite quarterbacks throwing him the ball in Oakland. Him and Luck could grow together.

Here's what Rotoworld has to say about DHB. Not sure who wrote this.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Heyward-Bey could visit as early as Monday. It's DHB's first known looksee since getting cut loose by the Raiders. Heyward-Bey wouldn't be signed as a starter, but as a replacement for deep-threat Donnie Avery. DHB was always miscast as a starter in Oakland, but could thrive in a situational role where he's deployed to take the lid off of opposing defenses.

My biggest problem with him is that he catches the ball with his body too often, his hands are very questionable, but could be a good situational player like what was said.
    Why so SERIOUS

Should we assume that since he left the Colts camp without a deal and he's visiting the Lions on Wednesday, that there is no deal in place and nor will be?

Could just be a case where he wants to weigh his options. The lions have a VERY high powered offense, and Heyward-Bey would receive a LOT of 1 on 1 coverage with Megatron, Pettigrew, Reggie Bush, and company.

Don't get me wrong, we have a great situation here as well--but after playing in OAK since he was drafted, I'm sure the guy wants to check out all of his options.

Heyward-Bay would be a nice fit for the offense. He would be a good #2 receiver to go along with Wayne and Hilton. He has big play potential and can catch the ball, also he's 6'2

I think he is delusional. I heard this is what he wants:

    5 - 6 year deal worth about 7-8 mil a year.10-12 up front.

    LMAO!!!

I would rather see us look at Brandon Lloyd for a short-term contract and see if Brazill can continue to develop with mentoring from Reggie. He has all of the tools to be pretty darn good.

We need a sure handed possession receiver to be brought in or drafted. I bet we lead the NFL in dropped passes last year. At least it seemed like we did.

We were in the top 10 but we didn't lead it.

1 year, up to $3 million. That's fine.

    April Fools!!!

jj. Given his youth, I think it should be a multi-year deal as long as it is reasonable.

EDIT: Nvm, apparently it's only a 1 year deal. DHB probably wanted too much for a multi-year deal.

Good low risk signing. It's certainly in his interest to play his a** off next year. We will be a fun team to watch next year.

Also, you can't judge a WR by his Oakland production. That's where receivers (and everyone else) go to die. He had Carson Palmer throwing him the ball last year, who isn't exactly Drew Brees. Don't forget that Moss looked dead in Oakland in 2006 before going to NE in 07 and having a historic season. Now I'm not saying that Heyward Bey is Moss, and I realize that we are talking about different quarterbacks too, but I'm just making the point that Oakland for a decade has been a terrible place for receivers. In Indy, DHB will be playing with a young stud quarterback and will also have an elite receiver alongside him in Wayne, who is always the defense's number 1 priority. Plus he will be playing for a big contract next season. I have a feeling he could develop some serious chemistry with Luck.

Haven't seen the player playing but judging by the contract he signed with us and that he has to play really well in order to get a good one next season, I'd say it's a good deal for us.
Read he's terrible at catching the ball cause he uses his body to try and catch it, but very good after the catch.

Anyway, we definitely needed another WR this season, remains to be seen how DHB will cope. Agree with Hypnotic, that we should also draft one.

I think we should draft one too. I think Wayne will have another great season, but he will be 35 in November and nothing is guaranteed at that age. We need some more insurance just in case Wayne loses a step. Hopefully DHB helps a lot, but I'd still like to draft one. Our butterfingers in that playoff game against the Ravens cost us any chance at winning.
