Default 2013 Colts Free Agency so far

Below are the guys we signed and resigned so far, i like all of them except Lawrence Sidbury. He is my real question mark, as iv not seen him play before. As for Erik Walden, with him rotating in and out with Jerry Hughes, i believe we will be allright at replacing freeney at a fraction of his cost. We had roughly $40 mill i believe available entering FA yesterday, and after Cherilus, Walden and Toler, they only accounted for roughly $16 mill per year, so if we got Thomas, Butler and Sidbury for no more than $9 mill all together per year, then that would put us at $25-$26 mill, which gives us a little more( Maybe $5 mill to $8 mill per year) to spend on another decent WR, O-line or DB, then take the rest into draft or future signings. My money add ups are not 100% accurate as i am just doing a rough rough estimate, but i believe its somewhat close to where we stand in the real world. Thoughts, looking to talk about potential FA left that could help us

    Signed:
    DB- Greg Toler
    OT- Gosder Cherilus
    LB- Erik Walden
    G- Donald Thomas
    LB- Lawrence Sidbury

    Re-signed:
    DB - Darius Butler

We still have to get a safety but its pointless to try to figure out how much money we have left since all of th contracts can be backloaded or structured in such a way that we could be clueless to make a prediction right now. I think we have enough money to sign whoever we want but it obvious Grigson wants to spread out the talent on the offense and defensive side of the ball which has been the very thing that most Colts fans have been clamoring for the past 10 years.

Something we haven't talked about is avaiblabe WR free agents. We stil could sign a veteran wr and safety and call it a day.

Sidbury and Walden were very weak signings, especially the money that Walden is getting. However, I believe Walden doesn't have much in guaranteed, so the Colts could still cut him if he doesn't pan out.

Cherilus was a great signging. A+ on that. Boston College bookends!

What do you have against him. He's an upgrade over Zibs. Certainly not my first choice, but who's out there that's better that wouldn't be overpaid?

    Seemed like a far question.

What makes you think he won't get overpaid? But being an upgrade over Tim is not a big challenge, honestly Joe Lefedge is an upgrade over Tim. But the thing is, he is bad in coverage, only really good at teeing off on people, stiff hips, and slow reaction time, but can make up for it sometimes with speed. I don't like his skill set for this team, and there are tons of FA safeties out there, hopefully this helps us in not overpaying for any of them, but that did not stop us from giving the RT a huge contract.

Joe Lefeged is not an upgrade over Zibs, as bad as Zibs is.
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

You hit it on the head for sure. That's Pagano's thing.... he's a stop the run first kind of guy and big believer in hitting the other team in the mouth. I believe he's not too afraid of the QBs in the AFC south and that's his focus. Of course come playoff time against the Bradys and Mannings is when the poor pass coverage will come back to bite the Colts in the butt.

We are not going after Avirl at this point and I wouldn't mind a solid RB for the right price.

Not less money but certainly an upgrade of Joe or Tom.

Another RB would be nice although I guess will be last of Grsgson's and Chuck's priorities. But Donald Brown is very injury prone and we basically have one fit RB in Ballard. Read somewhere btw, that we intend to use Allen as a FB in some situations.

Not less money but certainly an upgrade of Joe or Tom.
NFL network said we are still going after Avril, and at this point who knows what they will pay individual players, guess the big determining factor will be if they get in a bidding war.

How do you figure, what can he not do that Zib could do, only difference is experience, and we played better with Joe in the game, even if it was just a little better.

Thanks. I don't have time to watch all of this unfold but I would hope that we don't stop at adding talent to the OLB. IF the Bucs go after Revis then they won't be able to afford Avril IMO so we might be waiting for the other show to drop in that deal.

Conflicting stories, doesn't look like we will make a play for him, I expect the next signing to be along the defensive front

Really did not want Avril, he would have had to play ROLB, and I was hoping Mathis would get moved there because of natural fit. Glad the Colts decided to go with this game plan, not all the way sure what I feel about our LOLB position right now, but hopefully we pick up someone to challenge Erik for his position.

    Well, crap.

I think this is more because he isn't a perfect fit for our system. More of a 4-3 DE than a 3-4 Lineman.

I would have LOVED to get him, but I'm interested and hopeful that we sign more FA's

Donnie Avery to the Chiefs. Not surprising, and not terribly tore up about it, but I do appreciate his time here, and hopefully he appreciates his resurrected career.

i saw that too, also Jim Irsay tweeted that they have and are talking to many free agents right now, that both Grigson and Pagano are at the Colts headquarters trying and pushing for new signings.
