In case you don't know what a brony is, it is a portmanteau of "bro" and "pony". Basically, it consists of fans of the cartoon show "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" outside of its target demographic (~12 year old girls and their mothers). The subculture is mostly associated with males aged 18~34, though can include any age and any gender.
As someone who has a few friends who consider themselves bronies, I find it very weird. Most of these friends (not all) are socially awkward when talking about things outside of My Little Pony. Many bronies, though none that I personally know, also find it necessary to dress and act the part -- cosplaying as the characters from the show and acting like they do.
There are also a few (excuse my loaded terminology) messed up examples of adult individuals (mostly men) creating imaginary friends that are ponies and in some cases convincing themselves they are real. In what I hope is a small subset of these cases, people claim to fall in love with them. I'll leave the connotations involved with this out as to maintain a PG-13 rating.
What are your guys' thoughts on this?
