    Default Flacco deal done

Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens have agreed to a six-year, $120.6 million contract that makes the quarterback the highest-paid player in NFL history, a source familiar with the deal told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Talk about overpay. Did Baltimore just have Flacco write down a number and say OK?

Ridiculous contract. Yeah he had a great post season but did he ever have a full season like that? Guess not.
Yes, Baltimore were in a tough spot but certainly seems Flacco dictated his terms and got what he wanted.

He's basically getting an obscene contract for one Super Bowl run, just like the main reason Eli got that crazy 106.9 mil deal a few years ago was because of the Giants special SB42 run (he signed that contract a couple years before the second Super Bowl). Like Eli, he still has a bit left to prove in the regular season. I gotta give both of them credit though. Eli's 2011 postseason and Flacco's 2012 one is some of the best playoff football that any quarterbacks have ever played.

Agree with that but both of them have to have at least a couple of impressive regular seasons too in order to be among the 'elite' (I know... the eternal subject when it comes to QBs). Of course Eli will always have to show off his 2 rings but I am pretty certain you won't find many people that will put him among Peyton, Brady and Rodgers as the really top QBs.

I agree. Postseason is obviously super important, and Eli's impressive postseason resume' alone probably guarantees that he will be in the Hall of Fame. But I just can't put him in that Brady/Peyton/Rodgers/Brees class until he strings together some impressive regular seasons. His playoff run in the 2011 season was absolutely incredible, but he followed it up with a regular season this year in which he didn't play good enough to lead the Giants into the playoffs. There's no excuse for the Giants missing the playoffs this season after starting out 6-2. None. Peyton and Brady would NEVER miss the playoffs after starting out 6-2. It just wouldn't happen. Those two guys don't miss the playoffs period. Until Eli starts willing the Giants to some consecutive 11/12 win seasons, he's always going to be a step away from true elite status.

You did well to put Brees in there. Completely forgot about him. He is elite indeed.

    Joe Flacco has post-deal McNuggets
A couple hours after Joe Flacco signed his new six-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens that made him the highest paid player by average annual value in NFL history, he pulled into a restaurant to celebrate.

Armed with a $29 million signing bonus and the promise of a total of $52 million guaranteed over the life of the contract, Flacco rolled down his window at the McDonald's drive-thru in Aberdeen, Md., after ordering a 10-piece McNugget meal, with fries and an unsweetened iced tea for $6.99.
Sherry Norman, a diehard Ravens fan, glanced at the profile of what she thought looked remarkably like the guy that had just signed a huge contract at the Ravens facility about 40 miles from the McDonald's and in the direction of Flacco's New Jersey home.
